makes me sad and angry.....then I see the roar's facebook page about it and the number of fans calling him a hack is brilliant, then saying they'd prefer Saba....

then I realise we will find better players.

Brisbane fans have no clue how good he is.

Can't believe it, he's signed for 2.5 season! I want him to back with us soon.

I guess the beach lifestyle will also suite his missus.

He's not coming back, he never was - or will be.

I get the vibe something big is brewing, something on the ADP scale but a player that is still actually useful.

For me, it's just knowing how good the guy is or was for us and the underperforming RB's we've had since (Hamil's cameo's aside). I'm not saying I wish he had signed for us but more just we've been missing since he left. Unfortunately, even before he started training with the roar, the ship had well & truly sailed on him joining us back at WSW.

There's like one beach in Brisbane.

 Unpopular Opinion Thread??

PS Their all-orange outfit is even better!

It was with very mixed feelings that I watched tonight's Roar vs Nix game.  Very entertaining.

Jerome, despite what will be said by others, looked perfectly fine in orange, but not as good as in red and black.

Got into the game more and more... and ultimately played well in his first game since November.

Beautiful cross to help deliver the winning goal.

None of us wanted to see him go. I think we're going to have this thread revived on may occasions to comment on our regrets about him leaving.

So far, he still feels like one of ours to me.   :(

I tried to watch a little, but through a red angry haze and a few tears of regret I couldn't hang on.

He looked a little rusty at the beginning but that cross at the end...wow. Timeless JP stuff reminiscent of a few he pinged in for the likes of Shinji in one or two matches.

I hope some of those holding the purse strings back at Wanderers HQ had a long hard look...(the Cheapskate Three)

 Yes.... very much this!

i thought of you and whether you'd have been watching.  :(

I will still enjoy watching him!

It has been with a conflicted heart that I watched Polenz play. What a breath of fresh air it was to see a wing back bomb forward with complete ease supporting the attack and most importantly picking the right time to attack (not constantly been found out of position or exploited for being out of position). Being a midfielder by trade, he already has those attacking skills either being good on the ball & being able to distribute it too, with a defensive solidarity all he needed to add to his game in order to tailor it to his position. All this with his firsr game since the grand final (guessing since he didn't play overseas at all) and game will probably get better when he gets more match fit and loses a bit of weight.

I don't think it was about the cheapness that let him go but rather a gamble. It was more that Popa thought that he could get a similar output from another player but without paying him 1.5x or 2x the amount that he demanded. I'd say it was very similar to the situation with Mooy.

A gamble that clearly did not pay off, especially since he is paying for less than his original offer with us. .

He did look a bit rusty, now admittedly I only watched the last 30 or so minutes of the first half, but it did look like the roar players were trying to avoid Polenz and not use him a bit, many times he got in good attacking positions but didn't use him, especially brattan.

That cross though was mint!

He was quite rusty in the first half too.... but still did as Prydz observed when he said "What a breath of fresh air it was to see a wing back bomb forward with complete ease supporting the attack and most importantly picking the right time to attack (not constantly been found out of position or exploited for being out of position)"  Sigh!

no offense but screw him

Showed hunger, passion, a desire to do his best for his club and fans.

Remember when that was de riguer for those in red & black...

it was great when he did in red and black but today he had the black removed and just did his best for the red which he was unable to get

I know I posted differently but last night Jerome called his current club 'a disgrace'.

Does Jerome want to come home ?

Would WSW take him back ?

Sadly no, and considering he's locked into the Meow until end of 2016/17 no chance.

He's moved on, and so have we.

Ah, but those memories of when he played for a quality team that took passion to another level.... :good:

Would WSW take him back ?

He's got 2.5 years left on his deal, so it would have to be a mutual termination.

I'd be happy to have him back, the only concern is whether or not we can justify utilising 2 foreign spots on fullbacks?

Tanaka has done quite well for us and deserves a contract extension IMO (personally I believe he and Takahagi have already been offered longer deals but it wasn't announced to the media/FFA due to squad size limits).

He wanted to beat us so badly lol

already has, set up the winning goal for them in the last game between the 2

yesterday was our turn, sharing is caring :D

Link to comment

Sadly for us even if we wanted couldn't take him back unless we dumped a foreigner.

If we sign a marquee next season that's even less likely as we'd have to dump 2 to accommodate him.

Still him with Castelen would be pretty epic.
