It's like we're the same person. What an album! What a ******* band! Can't wait for "Trouble Maker" to come out next month. Think I really, really like "Ghost of a chance", even if the highlight of the video is Lars' "Granddad Skinhead" get up (that he's been working on a couple of years now), and Tim's..... actually, I don't know what the **** Tim is doing Coming to realise that the only way I'll see them live is to head OS. Punk Rock Bowling next year, maybe..... marron 1 Link to comment

Punk Rock Bowling next year, maybe..... I lost touch dude, I haven't heard, i think the last two? Which I will have to rectify. The last related thing I got was "a poets life". I cracked out all the others though over the last two days. just straight up honest punk goodness. Amazing lyrics on reflection as well. Still remembered so many of them. No good punk kids. Such a soundtrack to my life. I remember deciding to buy that album, the shelf in the record shop where it sat. My mate was obsessed, he had a tim Armstrong party where he played everything from his op ivy 7"s and bootlegs through to life won't wait. He saw them at somersalt I think. Man, that show at Caringbah though, there was hardly anyone there because it was a last minute thing. The security made everyone dump any metal at the door, all these punks were half naked. Lars was a ******* good dude hanging out with people before. H-Block 101 played it, I'd seen them like 3 times in as many weeks. I saw my future mrs there, worked it out years later, oh you were that chick.... Its been emotional Also, I was reading about how grandad skinhead there is a San Jose earthquakes fan and also follows millwall. Jimmy and johnny two friends o' mine, skinheads what they claim.... man I see a lot o' similarities, but man they don't seem the same jimmy says Johnnys a punk and johnny says jimmy's a mod jimmy listens to ska and johnny likes "the last resort"... Midfielder
Interesting vid … listen to the words … please...a number of years ago my third son was constantly listening to this song and this version…. At the time he had some quite bad medical issues with pain and would he ever be out of it and could he ever walk normally again… Twas a difficult time for all especially him. He is fine now, I grew concerned about the song and he was under a number of doctors with his injury, so I sent them the song and asked their opinion. Essentially he was thinking to end it all and he played this song a lot. I share this in case anyone else has a child playing this song and you have never listed to the words. wendybr and Kitto 2 Link to comment

wendybr
Just came here to post this. Many of you would know much more of him than I do, but Like a Stone is one of the best rock songs I know. Very sad to hear- his family, circle of friends and fans must be in utter shock! Case 1 Link to comment

lloydy136
Very sad to hear of Cornell's passing. His music was a big part of the soundtrack for my teenage years. Also.... Soundgarden>>>>>>>>>>audioslave wendybr, Carns, DontCallMeJacko and 1 other 4 Link to comment
wendybr
You could well be right...as I said, you guys would know him better than I do....but those I posted are the songs I am most familiar with. I posted this ages back in the "My Brush with Fame" type thread....but I was once in a small Thai restaurant in Manly, with my mother-in-law, when the band and their crew came in during an Australian tour. There were not exactly an uplifting set of dining companions ... every second word was the F word (very loud) ...and they were very brash. Lol...but still. Sad. Neverbloom 1 Link to comment

Cornell wrote lyrics about his own depression and/or inability to socialise. Try Fell on Black Days for a nice dose of melancholy. lloydy136 and wendybr 2 Link to comment

Carns
Vale Chris Cornell. My mum tuned me in to Soundgarden when I was 11/12 and I listened to their album Down On The Upside when I went to bed for.months. Such a great band, and an amazing vocalist. Taken too soon. @wendybr listen to Down On The Upside if you haven't already, great album. wendybr, Smoggy and lloydy136 3 Link to comment
