Well after today game the only way we finish 2nd is if we beat City and Mariners vs Adelaide ends in a draw.

3rd place is secure if we win and either Mainers or Adelaide wins. A draw against City would mean Mariners would need to win for us to finish 3rd.

Regardless we need to beat City in Victoria which we don't have a too flash record of doing. We need something positive to give the best possible momentum going into the finals

Wouldn't we also get 2nd if CCM win, and we win by more? We would flip then on GD.

We need to better the Mariners results. But being realistic here its Melbourne City. Not sure the chances of that happening when Melbourne City have great defence themselves its not gonna be a walk in. Its going to be grind and maybe even cagey because City may not want to risk too much in terms of injury heading into finals. For them its getting Leckie minutes in and keeping the machine turning for finals.

I am predicting if were to win it will be a solitary goal.

Would love to go down there are lay down a massive marker of intent, carry on from the nix game.

It's all about form and momentum going into the finals.

It's also free hit against City this I think. In great form, no pressure, send them out to enjoy it and **** other results.

Let others worry about us in the finals.

Just no stupid red cards please.

Yes no stupid reds like Hersi's in the semi final

Vidosic senior has no reason to play his all senior players except to give them some minutes.

Also, over on The Roar website, Tuckerman is suggesting that Danny Townsend is praying for Western Sydney Wanderers in the grand-final

We are in such a strong position, it would be insanity to do anything stupid at this stage...

But you know.....its the Wanderers and still expect us to shoot ourselves in the foot somehow lol

They get a week off in the first week of the finals so anyone they rest for our game would go almost three weeks without playing. They won't risk anyone with a knock but I'm assuming they'll play a fairly strong side given the week off to recover and wanting to carry some sort of momentum into the finals.

....and they would want to send a message to other finalists with a win over us.

I expect them to come out all guns blazing......high intensity.....high press.....dominate possession.

Great test for us.

We won't be as fearful as the first game at home.

Glover can be gotten at as can their right-hand defence with Talbot and Galloway with Lam.

I expect them to be full strength against us. They aren't playing the first week of the finals and won't want any of their starting line up to go 3 weeks between games

Edit: Oops. This point has already been made 😳.

That must have choked that prick Tuckerman having to write that.

Arsehat hates us.

I can’t see their players being fully motivated for this game unless they roll out the kids, which per above would be foolish given they already have next week off.

we should go for it, getting 2nd place gives you much better chance to make GF… of the 3 sides only Adelaide away would be intimidating mariners and city aren’t really intimidating

Adelaide on a Friday night is hell. You can easily lose 3 nil there

I'd love to see a draw or a Mariners win by 1 goal with multiple red cards to Adelaide. Irankunda and Barr would be ideal as payback for Marcelo

Brings back memories of 2013/14.

In round 25 we lost in Gosford to ccm in the 90th minute (Ibini) and dropped to third spot. The week after ccm lost in Perth, and we were ahead of them again, on goal difference.

In the final round CCM beat top of the table roar in Brisbane, and so we had to win against Heart in Melbourne, in Harry Kewell’s final match. What followed was one of the most memorable WSW games.

That last goal by Hersi. He nearly done that in the Grand Final, which would have put us 2-0 up around the 70ish minute and probably won the game. 😔

Bit of a shame we dont play after the Mariner/Reds game too. If the reds win then the game against city would be kind of pointless. The 2 big draw cards are the extra week off and securing Asian football again, albiet AFC cup. Really dont want to be risking the likes of Layouni, Hoff, Marcelo to cards and injuries

Simon Hill is the main caller. No idea who his offsider is. I hope it is Geace Gill.

Do they ever put Robbie Thomson with Harper?

Brosque actually gave us some kudos last night and will be on the studio panel.

Nah...we need to do better than the Mariners and get the easier play-off game.

Yeah true, I've got no particular interest in a Derby final :D
