It was interesting that the referee allowed him to do it before the first penalty but after the Brian Ruiz miss that he stepped in and sort of stopped him from sledging! This didn't stop Krul from letting off a few choice words as he walked from the penalty spot back to the goal line.

Look I don't mind the keeper jumping up and down on the spot, banging the cross bar or go side to side but psyching out the pen taker so blatantly shouldn't have been allowed. After he did it the first time, he should have got warned and a second time he should have got carded!

I also feel that it is different to cricket, cricket you bowl at 22 yards and the pen is taken at 12 yards. Sledging is not allowed in the face of the batter, neither should it be allowed to be done in the face of the penalty taker.

If the pen takers are going to keep prancing around and stuttering like tools then I don't see a problem with the verbals and the movement. Maybe got a bit too close a couple of times though.

That would be a bit scary for Marcelo and Neymar when he said it

http://www.smh.com.au/fifa-world-cup-2014/world-cup-news-2014/i-cant-feel-my-legs-neymar-sparked-brazil-panic-after-world-cup-injury-20140707-zsydl.html

Brazil's star striker Neymar cried "I can't feel my legs" after the World Cup challenge by Colombia's Juan Zuniga that has ended his tournament, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari told Spanish sports daily Marca.

Scolari said the whole team panicked after the knee in the back tackle during Brazil's quarter-final victory over Colombia.

Left back Marcelo was first to reach the striker, who suffered a fractured vertebra that has ruled him out of the World Cup, after the challenge.

Marcelo knelt next to Neymar and asked how he felt, according to Scolari.

"He replied: 'I can't feel my legs,'" added the coach.

Marcelo shouted for the team doctor, but doctors are not allowed onto the pitch.

"Marcelo was scared and called the doctor on but the doctor couldn't get on in the confusion. It was a big shock, the image of Neymar being stretchered off to the helicopter, in difficulty, crying," Scolari was quoted as saying.

Team doctor Jose Luiz Runco said that Marcelo's calls for the doctor had caused the panic after the challenge.

"We've lost the one player we didn't want to lose ahead of the semi-finals and the final," Scolari said of the "disastrous" loss.

Neymar was stretchered off in the 88th minute of the game and rushed to hospital where the fracture of the third vertebra was confirmed.

The 22-year-old Barcelona striker has since taken a few steps but the team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has said it will take from four to six weeks to recover.

FIFA is investigating the tackle by Zuniga who could face action. The Colombian defender has apologised but insisted he had not intended to hurt Neymar.

Daily reminder that Brazil can go and get fücked

The danger signs were there in Brazil's previous match against Chile. Right at the start Fernandinho flew into a late tackle. It was a clear yellow card. None was awarded. This leniency has been so prevalent that we can only assume the referees are acting on some kind of FIFA directive.

I read that article and he makes no sense. He says the referees let Brazil get away with things so it's Brazils fault that Neymar got injured. Blame the dodgy referees. If a player makes a bad tackle and the ref lets it go it's going to lead to more bad tackles, regardless of who's playing. However if the referee books the player then the opposition don't look for revenge or the opportunity for a "free shot" as he mentions in the article.

If Brazil like "tactical fouling" then the referees need to decide whether it's worthy of punishment, and actually have the sack to give the punishment, or it's being handled correctly and everyone needs to deal with it.

Funnily enough I completely agree. I thought it was stretch to blame the Brazilians.

I didn't think someone would actually read the whole article LOL ;) The article just said something about FIFA directive about Brazil winning so I'd just whack it on here.

Just to express my personal belief for the one millionth time Brazil has been protected throughout this world cup.

Regarding referees being soft on Brazil / conspiracy etc etc (BTW... I'm neutral on the Euro v Sth America semi's)

Statistics wise so far:

Brazil: 96 fouls - 10 yellows

Hol:     91  "      -  7    "

Ger:    57  "      -  4    "

Arg:    54  "      -   5   "

So, on these figures are ref's easy on Brazil?? I'm not suggesting they are not deserved. (btw, not positive these figures are totally accurate, I'm sure someone will correct me)

LOL 96 fouls.

That figure should well higher ...

Usually Brazil seems to be everyone's darling, and the Germans are the team everyone seemingly loved to hate. Not this time around, apparently. Interesting.

This is a very strange German team. They are not so clinical as usual, but clever and cunning instead. Very Italian. They all play in top European teams, and it shows. We are yet to see the best of Goetze, and I am wondering if he will deliver against Brazil.

I am well into old fart territory, and 2am matches are killing me. I will cut my beauty sleep short for this monster of a semi final.

Not me........ I am still firmly in the 'anyone but zee Germans' camp.

For me shouting for zee German's would be akin to shouting for ESFC, I just cannot bring myself to do it and never will. Nothing to do with history and wars and all that shite, just too many shattered dreams with them always beating the teams I go for and that dammed annoying efficiency they have. I guess you have to admire how tournament tough they are but it is ingrained in me to always back the underdog, the team that has almost been there and done it only to be heartbroken.

Therefore I will be shouting for the Dutch in the hope that they can do it this time. A dream result for me would be for the Netherlands to beat Germany in the final either via a last min goal or penna's. I really want to see zee Germans on their hands and knees shattered.

After the Netherlands I would want Brazil to win and then Argentina.

Brazil vs Argentina should happen, then we could at least get rid of one of the shitty and lucky teams

I could live with this if it means zee Germans are out :good:

Nightmare final Germany v Argentina........ **** I am old enough to remember the 1990 world cup final between these two...neither side turned up to play football that day. Worst world cup final in history that one.

Need Brazil or the Netherlands in the final.

MaFIFA (by association) in more shite:

An English director of Fifa's hospitality partners MATCH has been arrested in Brazil as part of an investigation into illegal ticket sales.

Ray Whelan, who used to work as an agent for Sir Bobby Charlton, was arrested at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, the hotel reserved for Fifa's senior executives.

The arrest came as part of Operation Jules Rimet, Brazil police's investigation into ticket touting which has seen detectives tap phones, make a total of 12 arrests and seize a number of tickets.

A spokesman for the Rio de Janeiro State Security Secretariat confirmed Whelan was in custody and would spend the night in a Rio police station.

MATCH is a division of Byrom plc, a company based at Cheadle in Cheshire. Whelan is not an employee of Fifa's but has become well-known in recent years in connection with MATCH's Fifa contracts.

Cue the English FA issuing protests about an Iberian language plot to bring English sport and the FA into disrepute... :woah:

PS Have to say for me a dream final would be Germany vs Netherlands, hence a repeat of 1974. Brazil can get farked and never been a fan of the Argentinians (aside from Ardiles way back when).

my boss is already aware that I may be late if it goes to extra time

My boss encouraged me to be late, regardless of whether there's extra time. :)

I would have thought with your fine pedigree POUM you'd have no boss, instead relying on a communal decision process as to who works and when made with fellow genossen in an Arbeitsgemeinschaft...

Maybe after the revolution. Until then, your taxes will do just fine as an incentive to turn up and run your country for you. :ninja:

Fair enough you want someone else to win, the following numbers are from wiki -

Germany haven't won the most titles (3), havent won the WC since 1990, havent won the european championships since 1996 (have won 3), and havent been ranked #1 for 2 decades. Havent won the the confed cup. East germany won the Olympics Gold but otherwise one bronze for germany in the olympics

Brazil have won 5 WCs the last in 2002, won the copa america 8 times (2004 & 2007 were their last), have been #1 on 151 occasions (last in 2010), and have won the confed cup 4 times (97, 05, 09 & 2013), also havent won the olympics but do have 3 silver medals and 2 bronze

Im sick of brazil winning!

Yeah, but how many times have Germany made the SF of the world cup in a row now with their Teutonic brand of high efficiency football. Very rarely to Germany go out of a competition early or by getting soundly thrashed, That is to be admired of course but it goes against my nature to back a team like this. To me they are the evil dark side lol

Let the Netherlands finally win one at the 4th attempt I say.
