And Fairfield-Liverpool you also have people who were SFC fans first. So Macarthur would have to be picking from the handful of people who 1) like football 2) didn't support SFC 3) didn't support WSW 4) want to drive/train the 45 minutes to Campbelltown and back.

I forgot how long it can take to get there from other parts of South west Sydney, like if I still lived in Cabramatta getting to Campbelltown stadium is almost twice as long as it would take me to get to Parramatta stadium.

I would have expected Campbelltown stadium to be closer

I mean even our club struggled when the games were at Campbelltown but even for Asia we never dipped below 5000, but I think the most we could bring was 10,000 I think against the Jets.

Its slim pickings and a lot of people don't care, have chosen a club or find it too expensive to justify going. On top of that some weird owner calls against their "active" and social posts on fans they haven't exactly ingrained into the people of Campbelltown and Camden. Macarthur and Camden regions Sunday league teams are filled with people that can't play rugby anymore but can play football to stay active. Its  a far cry to what Western United have been doing.

Ref standards prompt Macarthur captain Germain to quit

Macarthur's bid for an A-League Men finals berth has been dealt a hammer blow, with captain Valere Germain citing Australian refereeing standards as reason to terminate his contract.

Bulls officials confirmed to AAP on Monday that Germain's request has been granted, with the 34-year-old forward expected to take up a contract offer in Japan.

"It's disappointing that any player, a marquee player, especially one of the quality of Valere Germain, is frustrated by the refereeing in this country," Macarthur chairman Gino Marra told AAP.

"I'm sure many fans and clubs feel the same way.

"Valere has been a true professional at all times at the club and we wish him and his family all the very best."

The French forward is understood to have privately voiced concerns that he was being targeted by rival players and that officials did not properly protect him.

Germain was due to face a Football Australia (FA) hearing this week after being handed a show-cause notice for allegedly making a lewd gesture at a match official.

But Macarthur had since advised FA they would not be pursuing their appeal, with Germain asking for and receiving a release.

It is not the first time Germain has fallen foul of Australian match officials, missing the club's Australia Cup final victory after being sent off in a semi-final win over South Melbourne this season.

While his hot-headedness has landed him in trouble, there is no doubt the Frenchman has been a valuable member of the Bulls squad since arriving from Europe for the start of the 2023-24 season.

The striker has registered 19 goals across 45 ALM games and Macarthur have been pleased with his mentoring of the club's young players.

Jed Drew and Ariath Piol have secured overseas moves since coming into the Macarthur first team and playing alongside Germain.

With Piol, Drew and now Germain leaving, Macarthur's frontline is set to undergo a major shift as coach Mile Sterjovski tries to keep the Campbelltown-based club in the hunt for the finals.

Macarthur are seventh on the ALM ladder on goal difference but have just one win in their past five outings after Sunday's defeat to the eight-placed Western Sydney Wanderers.

"It's unfortunate that Valere is leaving the club," Sterjovski said in a statement.

"He is a great person and professional who gave his best to the club. I know that he loved playing for the club.

"It's great to see what we have done this season, and how it has attracted interest for our players both young and experienced.

That's f*cking hilarious.

I can't wait for him to be interviewed at his new club and they ask him the following question:

Interviewer -"So, why did you decided to leave Australia and come play in Japan?"
Germain - "I was a little whiny b*tch that would constantly whine towards the match officials. The last game I played everything wasn't going my way, so I chucked a tantrum and told the club to shove it and left"

Such **** reporting.

Old mate was off to Japan anyway wasn't he?

What he's done is just have a sook on his way out like the little ****wit he is.

And don't forget, Macarthur chose him to be their representative as Captain.

Good riddance. Now if a few others would follow him, it would add to the A League.

He thought the rules did not apply to him.

So far the exceptional circumstances with this Bullsh!t club

Milicic leaves

Dwight Yorke sacked

Davilla, Kearney Baccus and Clayton Lewis arrested and charged with match fixing

And now Germain chucks a tantrum

The one common denominator is Kryslovic

You can also add Mario Williams into the mix.

Yorke had Russell Catapy as an assistant coach and Catapy told Yorke to sign this guy from Barbados as Catapy had managed Williams in the past at some club.

So, Yorke signs Williams. However, Williams had visa issues to get into Australia so the club released him a few months later with 0 games with the club

What a bulls legend! *ring ring ring ring!*

They have insane ticket prices, even for 2 people and not the best seats tickets were almost $100, no wonder why they don't have huge crowds, can't imagine the cowbells help either

They blocked me on Twitter (as it was) when I Twatted that charging $40 for away end to stand in the sun was price gouging

That is kinda sad from them on twitter, get a bit of negative feedback and instantly block, honestly I just wanted to go to a game of football with a friend where I didn't care about the result

I would go if they gave me $40 though....I do like money

the rats are leaving the sinking ship it seems. Just move their licence to Canberra already

Who in Canberra is going to pay to run the team? The APL have effectively awarded the next license to their own day dream. "Oh wouldn't it be nice to have a team in Canberra"

At least south Melbourne exist, no?

Aren't they still trying to find a buyer for Newcastle.

The issue is there isn't a bidder that has finances to actually build the club. Richard Peil was one of the previous bidders and he could only hold onto the Mariners license for 2 years before he couldn't keep going.

Its weird Canberra should be having a lot of bidder similar to Perth being close to parliament etc. For whatever reason its not happening for Canberra.

I did make a mistake and bought tickets to tomorrows match, looking at the website not only free public transport is not included with their match tickets but free public transport is not included with their memberships, grubbiest most greedy a league club

Can't imagine going to any matches in the future

Stadium was alright, like central coast but worse, surprised they did not charge everyone $50 for the privilege of leaving the stadium but they showed restraint

I could see a few flags where they were meant to be so either they are extremely small or don't exist, the club has made so many mistakes

I actually think it comes down to ticket prices. I could write a dissertation on how Bulls have butt f***ed their fans since the 3rd week of their existence, but its not worth it.

They tried charging as high as $55 for this 'derby', and that was just the Bullpen. Tickets for halfway line were $85. Wanderers RBB seating is $30 for the Perth game tomorrow.

Theyve already dropped Bullpen seating to $24 for their Jets game next week.

Macarthur suing the FFA. Another day in the glorious paradise that is Australian Football.

----------

Football Australia is set for a legal showdown with Macarthur FC amid claims soccer’s governing body misled club owners when they applied for entry into the A-League.

Documents filed in the Federal Court claim FA breached consumer law and adopted unfair tactics when expanding Australia’s top-flight competition to 12 teams.

A southwestern Sydney team was originally slated to enter the A-League for the 2019-20 season alongside a club from Melbourne’s western suburbs, Western United.

While Western got off the ground in time, the Macarthur Bulls did not kick a ball until the 2020-21 campaign after its major backer, late billionaire property developer Lang Walker, sold back his club shares.

The remaining owners allege FA gave the green light on the condition the club would receive a TV rights windfall, court documents show.

The owners allege they were told by the governing body's then-chief operating officer, Mark Falvo, in 2018 they would have to pay more than $10 million to secure an A-League licence.

The Bulls finally agreed to pay a licence fee of $12 million.

Macarthur would be granted $3.25 million per season in central distributions as part of the club participation agreement, the owners allege.

The Bulls' business plan, which was accepted by FA and attached to the CPA, was on the basis the club would receive $3.25 million per season.

The club was also informed there would be a minimum distribution amount of $1.2 million inserted into their CPA.

Spelling out a purported conversation, the owners allege Macarthur owner Sam Krslovic received confirmation of the higher payment during a December 2018 meeting with FA.

"Just to confirm we'll get the distribution of $3.2 million per season as is related directly to our licence fee of around $12 million," Krslovic said.

“Yes, you’ll receive the distribution of $3.2 million," the FA in-house legal counsel allegedly replied.

But months out from entering the league in 2020, Macarthur were told by FA it would not be able to pay the $3.25 million per season.

FA allegedly said Foxtel, the competition’s then-TV rights holder, was unlikely to extend its broadcast deal and FA was concerned about solvency issues.

The club owners claim FA knew as far back as 2018 that Foxtel was not likely to renew terms, which left the governing body facing a shortfall in revenue.

That awareness is shown through FA's bid to insert the $1.2 million minimum distribution clause into the CPA, the owners say.

Macarthur’s owners are seeking compensation for the $9.6 million they've had to fork out on top of a $5 million loan to keep the cash-strapped club afloat.

The owners also seek damages and the potential voiding of elements of their contract with FA.

The matter is due to be heard in court for the first time on Tuesday.

“We’ve been trying to address this amicably for the best part of five years and we are sad that we have been forced to take this step,” said Krslovic, who is Macarthur FC's CEO.

FA is yet to file a defence. It declined to comment when contacted by AAP.
