Western Sydney Stadium Open

Recommended Posts

Dear oh dear, the August football whilst it was going to be hard anyways is going to be tougher again now, if it's bad for league then ......

bit disappointing really all that money spent on the pitch and they feel the need to rip it up after how many games? is it really that bad?

I may be a bit slow on the uptake here, if they are tearing it up and re laying yesterday & today, the Eels playing Friday that's just TWO days for the grass to settle.

Does that eliminate the risk of injury substantially rather than playing on last week's surface?, i am not an expert just mow my little patch out the back i'll pull my head in and leave it to the experts.

NRL are going to be pissed at the Bankwest Scheduling.

Bankwest Scheduled Games
22/07 Wanderers v Melb Vic
25/07 Smurfs v Fraudsters
26/07 Nix v Adelaide
28/07 Melb Vic v Brisbane
30/07 Adelaide v Perth
31/07 Wanderers v Nix
04/08 Wanderers v Perth
05/08 Nix v Brisbane
08/08 Perth v Melb Vic
12/08 Perth v Fraudsters

A number of games for Victorian teams still have venue as TBC

Jesus! That is some workout between the league & football, it’s going to be a mess. Surely we can shift games elsewhere? Anywhere with a decent pitch

Here is an updated schedule with NRL games included

Bankwest Scheduled Games
22/07 Wanderers v Melb Vic
23/07 NRL Parramatta v West Tigers
25/07 Smurfs v Fraudsters
26/07 Nix v Adelaide
28/07 Melb Vic v Brisbane
30/07 Adelaide v Perth
31/07 Wanderers v Nix
02/08 NRL tentative Canterbury v Eels
04/08 Wanderers v Perth
05/08 Nix v Brisbane
08/08 Perth v Melb Vic
12/08 Perth v Fraudsters

Our game is before the NRL game so the NRL will be unhappy with the grass length. Smurfs get a game 2 days after an NRL.

The tentatively scheduled NRL game just before our home game against Perth is 2 days before our game

My guess is Foxtel told them to make it Bankwest, I'm fairly sure all the NEP equipment has stayed there to save money.

NRL teams are meant to be playing home games from this weekend.

Anyone know how many broadcast production teams there are?

Is Penrith stadium an option? :unknw:

Penrith Stadium is owned by Panthers Leagues Club, so it would be dependent on them agreeing to it. And considering their sometime ambivalence to football (and wanting to prioritise their league team anyway) they may not be receptive.

thanks - thought that might be the case

I heard about issues with the surface at Campbelltown and wondered why no-one had considered Penrith

It's owned by the Council but leased to the Panthers.

It wasn't used as part of the NRL hub. I think there was some deficiencies involved from a covid perspective.

Who cares about NRL, do they care about the WSW, Bankwest stadium is WSW home ground they like it or not.

Head groundskeeper seemed pretty confident that it will stand up fine

Only 3 NRL games till the A-league starts with one game (or possibly 2) during the 28 days. Plus there is a gap till our season restarts
