NPL Discussion 2022

Not sure if you'll be able to see it because you need an NPL.TV but the game was on stream: https://www.npl.tv/en-au/playerpage/561660. The incident occurred around the 2 and minute hour mark into the stream. It's pretty much the same stuff seen in the above videos but just on the opposite side of the field.

The incident on the field occurred around the 81st minute. The officials gave yellow cards to Jordan Roberts from SU58 who seem to cause the incident, Danijel Nizic got a yellow for basically running out of the box and pushing players. Alec Urosevski and Daniel Petkovski from Rockdale got yellow cards as well.

Matt Sim, Yianni Fragogiannis and Christian Gonzalez from SU58 had a few words with the officials after the scuffle.

I would say the fans fighting was after the game.

Lol, f*cking hell, that's ridiculous.

According to one guys, SU58 fans caused a scene last week at Mount Druitt as well:

Didn't they cause a scene after the FFA cup match against the Wanderers as well?

i though i could see a fan run onto the pitch, apparently there was no stabbing but the flog carrying around a weapon that looked like a blade apparently it was a lawn mower blade! did any punches actually get thrown or was it just the poor bread trays coping all the abuse!

I can't decide whether this is an innocent typo and should have said "strongly condemns" or it's a "typo".

I'm leaning toward the former.

I'm inclined to call it a Freudian slip. Anyone who has been to a Rockdale-Sydney Olympic game knows that the so-called Rockdale fans are never there to watch the game!

Looks like it was more than nothing, less than what it’s been made out to be. Bloke running around with the lawnmower blade (?) is not good at all.

Of course it would be. They lap this sort of stuff up. Always ready to put the game of football down.

However, whenever there is "an incident" at an AFL game, it's sweep, sweep, sweep".

yer with every filming these days the media was going to lap this up and its going to effect all levels of football, not a good luck and a further dig in the back to what progess football has made.

But we will never be good enough for the main stream media and bogans who on one hand are screaming bring the biff and cheering on punch ups on the field but condoning the soccer hooligans with their flares.

So our game isn't perfect neither are we but neither is any other sport and yet look and how much they get away with and still come out on top. Time to move on learn from the mistakes of this match by restricting away fans or more security at these matches and making sure football lives another day.

To be fair the networks have shown footage of punch-ups in AFL but I must admit this particular incident looked unsavoury on a number of fronts.

Posted

They show violence at the AFL and NRL but it's never the lead story, it's usually buried in the sport section so they can quickly pivot to highlights and a redemption story puff piece about a player being a changed man after deciding to stop hitting his missus.

Pathetic comment. They're actually some of the more loyal fans around and attend most away games too.

Yes there are fans that do follow the team but unfortunately, there is also a group that are more loyal to a certain Former Yugoslav republic whose flags and chants are clearly to antagonise opposition supporters. Not to the mention the nationalistic propaganda sticker bombing of Belmore (and Lambert Park) when Rockdale play Olympic. I have personally witnessed all this as well as proper Rockdale football club fans shaking their heads at this group's antics.

Football NSW just posted an updated statement in regards to the incident, they'll have both clubs playing behind closed doors for the rest of the season it seems:

https://mens.nplnsw.com.au/2021/04/27/football-nsw-statement-rockdale-ilinden-fc-v-sydney-united-58-fc/?fbclid=IwAR20mu5us3oyLNi-QUYvqRUSrsEqPiBQFzsqQqRcxeNdwTJlSp3J0tvZ7Xc

Following the incidents that occurred at the match between Rockdale Ilinden FC v Sydney United 58 FC on Sunday, 25 April 2021 at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Ground, Football NSW is today imposing the following measures:

- Home matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without home and away spectators; and

- Away matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without away spectators.

The above measures will remain in place until the investigation into the incidents is completed and outcomes determined.

These measures apply to NPL NSW Men’s 1st Grade and U20’s, and FFA Cup matches.

An external, independent investigator has been engaged to review the incidents and propose any charges.

Football NSW is liaising with Football Australia regarding possible national and international sanctions against individuals that were involved in the incident.

Separately, Football NSW and both Clubs are continuing to assist the Police with their investigation.

Football NSW reminds everyone of the importance of providing a safe environment for spectators, players and officials and that Football NSW has a zero tolerance policy towards violent behaviour.

apparently they got FFA CEO James Johnson to attend a interview with Ray Hadley even though this falls in football NSW. Never interview with the media especially with experts in sookat bashing like Hadley you will come off 2nd best.

It was just basically bashing ethnic names in football clubs for the cause of this fight with James saying thanks ok. Ray doesn't understand keeping migrant roots with established clubs but turns a blind eye to the thousands of Aussies who have migrated overseas to begin their own businesses keeping their tradition of culture and heritage by selling and naming businesses in their own language.

I think Ray forgets this country was established by migrants and those who bought along with them the many sports which now they follow including Rugby League/Cricket and yes Soccer. There are rugby league clubs who still have strong background roots and heritage with their founders in their name and also club colours, should we also ask to get with the times and remove their ancestory?

Hadley just likes to rant at anything to the point it sounds like he is going to have a heart attack live on radio.

I guarantee you he said f*ck all about the crowd fight at an NRL that occurred a few weeks ago.

Football NSW posted an update in regards to the Rockdale Ilinden vs Sydney United 58 incident and the sanctions that were provided to both football clubs:

https://mens.nplnsw.com.au/2021/08/11/update-rockdale-ilinden-fc-v-sydney-united-58-fc-incident/?fbclid=IwAR2rKJp-3J2PoMvZBM5uiioa6EmmA2BGllr-smqzxwb95bCd2HPfmaS8mEM

...both clubs were found guilty of a number of offences, including for conduct that brings the game into disrepute in relation to the involvement of their spectators in the post-match riot, and were issued with the following overall sanctions:

Rockdale Ilinden FC:

  1. $11,500 in fines payable immediately and the loss of 6 Premiership Points in the 2021 season; and
  2. $6,000 in fines and loss of 6 Premiership Points (both suspended, with the suspension triggered upon a finding of guilt for contravention of specified offences during the 2022 season).

Sydney United 58 FC:

  1. $11,000 in fines payable immediately and the loss of 6 Premiership Points in the 2021 season; and
  2. $9,000 in fines and loss of 6 Premiership Points (both suspended, with the suspension triggered upon a finding of guilt for contravention of specified offences during the 2022 season).

In addition to the above sanctions, for the duration of the 2021 season and for the entirety of the 2022 season, all NPL and any FA Cup matches between the two clubs must be played behind closed doors.

The difference in the amount of the fines payable by the clubs is due to the fact that not all of their charges in respect of incidents within the ground were identical.  Both clubs received identical penalties in respect of the post-match riot.

Both clubs have seven days within which to appeal the GPT’s determination.

If neither club has lodged an appeal within that period, Football NSW will publish a copy of the GPT’s determination on its website.

Football NSW commends both clubs for the assistance they provided to NSW Police and to Football NSW during their respective investigations, for the way they conducted themselves during the GPT proceedings and for the pro-active steps taken since these incidents occurred.

We take this opportunity to remind all of our stakeholders that Football NSW has a zero tolerance policy towards violent behaviour.

The sanctions imposed are a reflection of how seriously Football NSW treats such incidents.

Looking at the current table, it seems Rochdale are going to be more affected by the loss of points in comparison to Sydney United:

94u8qyz.png

Sydney United 58 were originally on 33 and now on 27 points. They'll stay on 2nd place.

Rockdale Ilinden were originally on 26 and now on 21. They were originally at 3rd place and now at 7th place.

I say Blacktown City will be minor premiers for this season (if it still goes ahead). I think Rockdale Ilinden will eventually make the top 6. The Wolves are having a shocker season.

Declaration of Leagues

No womens or girls teams for the Sydney based A-League teams :unknw:

Boys NPL now in 3 tiers despite the protestations of Alex Tobin (now At Hills)

I don't think that Sydney based A-League Womens/girls teams was ever on the agenda for 2022.
