Pretty much goes back to what Staj said at the Fans forum, if he wants to sign players, he wants to sign talented players from the NPL and because we lacked depth in the LB department, Holliday being a left winger was signed as a LB

Its a glaring issue at LB. We already stated on this thread the club didn't want a Visa for LB, but also didn't have much available to look for LB. Muragis was probably the best of the local crop available but Mariners went in early to replace Farrel. 

A few players were trailed and Holiday was the one Staj settled on but clearly he hasn't impressed enough that even when he drops Clisby he still preferred Panta over him. That's the clincher for me, that he put faith in an academy CB at LB who is right footed over Holiday who can play at LB even if its not his preferred position.

He basically denied the Mata transfer at the club forum. We could be on the verge of signing Sergio Ramos and he'd say we have nothing happening. 

We are still one good defender away from being a real top 6 threat, two away from being a title chance.

To fill the squad. Because our NPL team attacking talent was pretty poor last year. In case there's a lot of injuries for his side of the park. And to see if he might be capable of elevating his play with time with more resources and fighting for position against better players at training.

He did well for Wellington Phoenix and 100 times better than Jack Clisby. To be honest, anyone is better than Clisby.

Why sign players that have been dumped from others teams? It doesn’t make sense to me. Promoted from within and work with what we have!

Because sometimes they launch 50m bombs over the opposition GK if they angry enough at being frozen out  

But no seriously, I'm with you. I dont want rejects. I want to steal the ones they want to keep. And specifically Majekodunmi has been the CB thats set a horrible unwanted record for the worst home defence ever in the first 3 games. Strong pass. Pelekanos has shown reason to be considered as depth there.

If we have budget, we should be looking at a senior CB

I just thought since he played last season under Stajcic, Majekodunmi might link up with him again since he is the one that started Majekodunmi's career in the A-League.

Majekodunmi has only played 1 game this season where Zdrilic had him as a right back. The kid is a centre back so he didn't adjust to being a right back. Since then, he's hasn't been selected into the squad.

Theoretically Jeong. I think he would go fine with a Marcelo-esque player next to him. But if we terminated Jeong's loan and used the visa slot elsewhere I would be happy for Bonetig to retain his spot.

He's played about 3000 minutes + 1000 cup minutes as a senior player. These were across the Russian and Uzbeki leagues

The Russian league is no joke. It's about on par with seocnd division leagues in France and Spain. It's not like we're trying to pull someone from Malaysia or Iceland. He's definitely not a potential senior leader but his hamstrings haven't given up yet, thats for sure.

Considering we've just sunk 350k into Mata, I can't imagine cash is flowing like the Ganges. We desperately need a midfielder and he has more senior minutes that most young aussie midfielders. He's not exactly who I'd want but he's far from the worst midfielder we've ever signed.

However if we have limited funds, I'd rather us find a LB and a CB.

Interesting the club is chasing a young CDM. The one thing that stands out is he is part of the U23 Uzbek team. That squad has been killing it in Asia and that entire crop of players is full of potential, so there might be a diamond in the rough there. 

Sadly we indeed lack depth at CDM and at CB. I think the fact that the transfer season doesn't start until 14th Jan may have influenced the club's decision of what they go for. Jeong should likely be back by then or at least training and Panta would be close himself. Its 2.5 weeks away and both suffered injuries that can be overcome in 6-8 weeks.
