Those West Yorkshire Chunts....grudge what grudge..

RBB will be the least of the cops worries on Saturday.  Posted this on police and security thread...in UK usually most games with Leeds are classified medium to high risk depending on who they are playing.  Cops will need to be on thier toes. 4 to 5 K Leeds many using these games as reason to holiday in Aus. Drinking all day before game fired up and ready to roll by 7pm. They will be loud and rowdy  in and out of the ground.

Boro games v Leeds are always 1pm kick offs at request of the police..NEVER a night match.

Whilst looking forward to 'the second coming at Parramatta', the only thing I will miss from our Lidcombe pre-match days are the food options.

    Especially that Korean place.

    And The Royal Oak.

For those more in the know of Parra, refresh my memory of pre-match food suggestions (noting we go with kids/teenagers).

Don’t get me started Wendy, I’ve been banging on about this for months now lol

You have a look at that side of the ground during the footy, usually when the players are kicking a conversion and they go to a different camera angle and you can see how sparse it is already.

    Not at all surprising.

In a place like Western Sydney, where privilege / status and more affluence than the average person has wouldnt be worn like a badge of honour ( as it might be in other places) you'd sit over there in splendid isolation...and feel like a prize wanker, I imagine.

Well...unless you WERE a prize wanker, and then you might feel appreciative of being away from all the plebs?

IDK, but it wouldn't feel comfortable to me.

Very true. Putting aside the whole class/SES point, the stadium at the end of the day is just a glorified suburban stadium so why does it need to be so overly corporatised to the point people can’t access the entire stand?

I still believe that within a few years the seating area in front of the suites, on the bottom bowl will become just standard western seating.

A mate’s family own a small construction company and were given tickets to the opening eels game by a supplier. They’ve been back to every game since as there are apparently an abundance of tickets available in that stand... Says it all really.

    Absolutely no surprise there.

What do they charge for them?

You'd still feel isolated and....self conscious unless there were plenty of others in the bay around you.

And with the WANDERERS, if we return to anything like the atmosphere we once had, you would be missing out on the sense of unity we felt when everyone around us was part of the action. You were enveloped by the atmosphere in a way that probably would not be possible over there.

Saute...a Thai place a few doors down from the Bavarian. Food and service is great...you can sit outside, the March goes right past you if you aren't participating. Well it did.

    Always plenty of Wanderers.

You'd need to book though - it's only quite small.

There was a small Malaysian place on eat street that did an awesome sambal half chicken...very very spicy..good though. Hoping they are still there.

    Think it is..Ya-Malaysia...

in the lead up to the game, all i've been hearing is the 5000 leeds fans will be loud so the RBB better show up.

Will the 5000 leeds fans from the uk/asia/australia all be active?

and why is it not 5000 leeds fans will be loud so wsw fans should be ready to out chant them?

Let's not rely on the RBB to make some atmosphere if everyone gets behind the team the stadium the match then our homeground will always be a fortress where off the field we will never lose a challenge. But its up to each individual one of us to get involved in any way possible to make it happen! :)

All PR claptrap. There are around 1,000 Leeds fans who have actually travelled from Yorkshire. They will be rowdy for sure especially if they have been on the turps all Saturday. They are on their jollies after all. Fair enough.

I presume the rest of the 5,000 will be local Leeds fans who like the rest of us, live here, work, have families etc and a fair few will be eurosnobs for sure. They will jump up and down and chant occasionally and then sit back in their allocated seat.

So whats the deal with this match? Theres this eerie sense of negativity going around.

Is it struggling for sales? Is the rbb still on hiatus? Got a desperado feel to it

Theres anticipation of 25k tickets to be sold by kick off. Stadium capacity is 30k.

RBB not on hiatus. They've been promoting the pub and march actively over the past couple of weeks.

My only concern is the health status of the active group as a whole. Do we know the words anymore? What's the new songs?!

also, does anyone know the expected turnout of  Leeds supporters? Have the main contingent travelled from the Land of Eng?

If you’re in bay 124, try avoid aisle 7 until instructed otherwise. 👍

Aisle 7 wouldn't be anywhere near bay 124 though, would it?

Drove through Parra today and quite a few Leeds fans around already, although I reckon a lot of those schmucks would be staying in the city doing the Sydney touristy stuff today.

Tomorrow though, expect most of the pubs in Parra to be full of rotund middle aged Yorkshiremen from opening time, spilling beers, singing crappy songs and generally making slobby arses of themselves.

It's going to be 19 degrees and clear tomorrow. A repeat of today. This will equal the one summer's day that they usually get back in Ol' Blighty.

The majority that have travelled from the UK will be the 55 years or older, relatively wealthy with time on hands types, cost is too much for many to travel from UK to Australia in our mid winter for pre-season friendlies, not quite school summer holls in the England yet either. They are not going to go to the effort of travelling all the way from the UK and cause trouble lol

There will be a good few backpacker types that are already over here that will be rowdy no doubt, and they are the ones who will create any atmosphere in the Leeds end.

    • I'll preface this by saying everyone is always welcome here, but to be honest you've been pretty sharp with people in here too. Even going to far as to accuse a certain poster of spreading silly 3rd hand rumours. That same individual was someone who previously regularly had the CEO of the club over to their house for dinner, a pretty well informed person.  This is off season on the WSW forum. Specifically the squad development thread turns into a complete crap shoot for 5 months. Absolutely nothing is achieved and we refuse to be serious. I encourage you to join in the stupidity and not resist it. It's an excellent way to pass one of the worlds longest off seasons
