There was actually an article by Lynch based in Melb that ran in the SMH that WSW are now the club to hate. With Bossi around we get promoted as the club to hate weekly regardless of how shyte we have been for so long. Syd FC and Melb Vic currently hold the title on a shared basis. mack Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Part of the A-League's downfall was the trend for people to stop "hating" Sydney FC and just get bored and apathetic because of the massive bias that was shown to them by the FFA and the refs. pseudonym, jockman, Prydzopolis and 1 other 4
StringerBellend Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 A League has plenty of teams to hate Sydney for being the Kopites of the league Perth as their fans are total tits City for lacking soul and the cahill thing western United for existing Prydzopolis and Smoggy 2
Davo Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Apparently Birmingham are retiring the number 22 jersey after selling Jude Bellingham to Dortmund. Kid had one season in the first team and scored four goals... Smoggy and Prydzopolis 2

WSWJACK Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 Ah well, another year in the championship it is then, not too bitter, Brentford have been the most attacking team in the championship this season, their turn to bask in the sunshine it seems.

Smoggy Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Brentford's old Griffin Park was a great away day. There was a pub in each of the four corners of the ground and had a CCM away day vibe in that you could never imagine any trouble, home and away fans just mixing around with little to no segregation, Fulham just up the road is like that also. Totally different experience to Millwall, West Ham or Chelsea which were always a hassle. Happy memories of going to Brentford, spending the weekend in London seeing some sights followed by the game. I’ve been to Brentford away, in my support of Southend Utd stood behind the goal ”all the people.. so many people they all say who’s that team in blue.. southend” to the tune of blue park life MathyouWSW and Smoggy 2

Yeah I enjoyed a couple of trips to Brentford....as you say a 'safe' ground to visit and a decent covered terrace behind the goal at one time. I'd add QPR to Brentford and Fulham as safer grounds to visit. StringerBellend and Smoggy 2

Smoggy Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Strangest entries to a ground...away side at Filbert Street Leicester...turnstile in a row of houses in the street with someones front door next to the turnstile. Upstairs to the house either side above the turnstile You went through and under the house then up some metal steps and looked down in the the gardens of the houses. Watford - Vicarage Road - walked through garden allotments to the back of the terrace. Carns 1
marron Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) I went to Filbert St but I was in the home end above the away section hiding my colours (especially when di canio scored a dodgy pen ) To get a ticket I rang up Leicester, they couldn't believe I was an Australian Leicester fan and were very helpful haha. I couldn't see what you describe because of all the fencing and stuff after the game. Luton was like that, between terraces, underneath the second floor of one, then up metal stairs over a backyard and into the stand. I went to Ninian Park too and don't remember seeing much although I had been warned how dodgy it was. But apart from that.... Brighton, Barnet, and West Ham, that might have been it I think. StringerBellend Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) I remember Southend Utd singing “does the council, Does the council, Does the council know you’re here?” at Barnet Was a sunny day at the end of the season, nice pub round the corner from memory too Edited August 2, 2020 by StringerBellend

I went to Burton Albion for a FA Cup 3rd round game in Jan 2011, just before we moved back here. Whole ******* place is a pub The town is built around breweries. Nice real ale pub in town. We lost naturally. The beer was the best part of the day. Edited August 2, 2020 by Smoggy StringerBellend and MartinTyler 2
Edinburgh Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 I've only been to one. Turf Moor, Burnley. September 1975. In the away stand for Burnley v Leeds. Home and away fans separated by a high fence. A line of coppers on the steps on the away side of the fence. Numerouse projectiles coming and going over the fence. What came over went back over, with the odd rare exception such as the LARGE dart sticking right through the wrist of a Leeds fan as he was taken for treatment and the half a brick that hit a copper in the head and was taken out of the stand along with the said injured copper.
WSWJACK Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Some impressive listings there, shittiest was Ninian park one of the boys foolishly left a black & white scarf on the mini bus mirrors, got back after the game tyres slashed and all the windows bricked in, t**ts. easy visit & nice pub outside was Blackburn, just sat down with locals with away shirts/scarves on talking football, nice day out very friendly.
