Sithslayer1991
Socceroo Degenek out of World Cup qualifiers after positive COVID test By Reuters October 5, 2021 — 10.46am Australia defender Milos Degenek has been ruled out of the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifiers against Oman and Japan after returning a positive COVID-19 test, the team said on Tuesday. Bailey Wright replaces the Red Star Belgrade defender in Graham Arnold’s squad for Thursday’s (Friday AEDT) Group B clash against Oman in Doha and next week’s Japan game in Saitama. “Degenek is asymptomatic, however after returning a positive test in his pre-departure screening, he has been ruled out of the upcoming FIFA international window,” the team said in a media release. Fifteen of Australia’s 25-player squad had already arrived in Doha, with the rest to arrive later today. Australia are top of Group B after beating China and Vietnam in their opening games of the current phase of Asian qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Qatar. Reuters Link to comment

Both are asymptomatic which raises the questions are they vaccinated? If they are why can they still not travel? so many questions and yet another obstacle to overcome. Link to comment

Sithslayer1991
Yea got a bit worried at the end of that 1st half and some impressive saves from Matt Ryan to prior to the equaliser. That number 19 for Oman is damn good. 2nd half was improved especially when Mooy came in, controlled the game despite the chances Oman made. But wow look at that Japan game now any positive result for us almost guarantees automatic qualification and Japan may have to fight for 3rd. I am already getting ahead of myself, but what a story that would be, and fingers crossed the Saudi game is at home we will need every advantage against them. Looks like there’s a good chance our home games against Japan, Vietnam and possibly Saudi Arabia may actually be played in Australia, so I’d back us in those games if that’s the case. China were pretty bad and while Oman have been a banana peel, we seem to be getting the job done in the Middle East. If we win the three home games and China away then we could lose to Saudi Arabia and Oman away and still qualify ahead of Japan. Paul01, Carns and Sithslayer1991 3 Link to comment

Positive: Grant out, Karacic in Negative: Mooy (DM) and Rogic (LW) on the pitch together Positive: Furuhashi starting on the bench Negative: Crowd could be bigger than 10,000 Positive: No crappy Japanese chants Bones 1 Link to comment
