Nnnnnathan12 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I hope that this is resolved before the Victory at home game in a fortnight, aside from the Sydney Derby, Victory at home or away is a much looked forward to gameAt the end of that day, it's all about fans having a good day out.
matty Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 We can still have a good day out. Knowing you're doing your best to help football flourish in your community is a good day for me.
furns Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 http://www.newcastlefootball.net/home/2015/11/squadron-statement-time-to-hit-them-where-it-hurts/ Squadrons thing. http://www.newcastlefootball.net/home/2015/11/squadron-statement-time-to-hit-them-where-it-hurts/ Squadrons thing. What are people's thoughts on this? The aim of our protests should be the FFA first, the MSM media should not be our initial priority. The other problem is that the squadron don't have big numbers so how successful will it end up being? I really like - despite the fact that I don't think the coves approach on its own would do much - what braad said somewhere else about the combination of things and the ffa putting out spot fires under pressure. So they might miss the point. But. If people get behind it outside of Newcastle as well, it becomes another thing that we are doing to change the situation. Newscorp and the power they have over football with TV and reporting and so forth are probably a big part of why gallop responded so flaccidly. It would send a message of the support football has, if it gets big enough. So yeah. I believe each group should do what they want to do and what us pertinent to them - but that we should all support every effort to fight for football and football fans. I would add that we have called for the whole Football Family to get behind our action - not just the people of Newcastle. We definately recognise that just on our own we cant possibly hope to effect change with this action. Our stance is predicated on as many people as possible outside of the Jets support joining the cause. If they feel this stance will actually accomplish what we hope to - we just dont believe that boycott/walkouts/silent protests will do anything in this case (in regards to RW and AJ). As far as the FFA goes, we feel that direct lobbying will make more of a difference long term than us not showing up or walking out during a Jets fixture.
dmixtaaa Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 There should be a "I'm boycotting the game completely" option in the poll because really, that's what everyone in the RBB should be doing! FFA don't deserve our money. Will gladly not go even if I've already paid for the ticket. Best response to how the FFA are treating us is by not turning up, then maybe they'll realise that they truly are nothing without us. If things go pear shaped tonight at Victory or tomorrow at CCM, I can sense a record Fox Sports viewing ratings for the top of the table clash next round at Wanderland V Victory.

If it is not a united, RBB directed thing, it is just like you decided to sit on your arse for the day. It will only play into the hands of the Rebecca Wilson's of the world. Boycotts only work if they are united, co-ordinated and well communicated. Otherwise, they are literally a waste of time.

I will boycott the game next week if things turn to shite tomorrow night as I'm sure many others will. The numbers down will definately show the FFA we aren't happy. Best part is, the club isn't inconvenienced as most of the seats are already paid for via club membership... Win/Win...
marron Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 An individual boycott only has any impact if you let the relevant parties know. That means the ffa, the club, the stadium. Write to them telling them why.

What I meant is that if it isn't co-ordinated amongst our fan base, it won't work. It will just look like crowds are down a bit, and it will be interpreted that that is because we are such violent things. Co-ordinated and communicated. These are musts or any boycott is a wsste of time.
WSW2166 Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 There is no progress or accomplishment without sacrifice IMO a full round boycott by all Supporters in solidarity should be seriously considered. el pueblo unido jamas sera vencido. The people united will bever be defeated.
DontCallMeJacko Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 This walkout will be for nought if : The FFA refuse to make the requested changes : Active supporters return to "normal service" next week I agree with Brendan on this week's ATB. This is just the start. If the walkout doesn't work, next week we boycott the game. We watch it from the pub. Then club sponsors/food vendors/foxtel start putting pressureon the club/FFA. If that doesn't work- the following week we boycott Parramatta. Then you have local businesses putting pressure on the club/FFA. This is only the beginning. Stand United. *These are hypotheticals. Hopefully a resolution is found before it comes to this.

I'm glad this has happened in a way because it has brought us all closer together, no matter which bay in Wanderland you frequent all us Grubs are equal.
West13 Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Everyone needs to be very conscious that the seccos and popo on the coast will be itching to find any excuse to make us grubs and pack animals look bad. Lets hope they dont but given the embarrassment that the police have endured recently with a growing public outcry against their views, they are still probably looking for a square up or to save face. We have seen this in part already. Their mates in the media will be itching for it too. This isnt a rallying cry to get your back up and have a chip on the shoulder, its just a note to keep your head clear and rational and look out for your wsw brothers and sisters. Lets go up, celebrate our team, undertake our protest against the FFA and come home safely and happily.
Alexander Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Interested to hear the opinions of those who selected in the poll that they won't be participating in the walkout. No judgment of course, just curious. Edit: sorry the text is so large, for some reason I can't seem to get the normal text size Edited November 28, 2015 by mack

DomJ Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) If I'm going to travel 2 hours to support the team, then that is what I will do. I was going to write a lengthy post but most of it has been said in various places already. I can only suggest that for those who are going to walk out, please do not get trapped/baited/antagonised by police, security and media and avoid giving them any ammunition. Take a deep breath, think before you act and be the better person.. cool heads must prevail. GD07 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 So those banned are also unable to play park football. Talk about a double whammy, and a load of shite if you ask me.

Cynth Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'm going tomorrow. A long way to take kids only to see half the game is the gist in my home and family. I'm tortured by it. You see, if we came, we would definitely be walking out, not a doubt in my mind. I am with you all in spirit!

Alexander Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) In for the match and in for the walkout. Despite the fact I won't be walking. Rolling > Walking Don't loiter around. They will book you for illegally parking a vehicle and slap a ban on you. Not if they have any wits about them. I'll be happy to make myself look extremely helpless for a front page article on overzealous banning orders "Wheelchair bound terrorist wreaks havoc on footpath" Dozens of peaceful football fans were agressivley forced onto the nature strip as this reckless hooligan steered his vehicle towards the exit gate at Bluetongue Stadium. Police confiscated the wheelchair to search for explosives however none were found. A spokesman said "you can't be too careful with these things. We know that terrorists have used vehicles as mobile bombs before" David Gallop praised the brave security staff for putting an end to the footpath rampage. "Family friendly environments are what we are all about. We take a zero tolerance approach to wheelchair hooliganism" Looks like the police follow the forum https://twitter.com/userlastname/status/670515204715913216 Edited November 28, 2015 by Alexander

DamnedUnited Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Lloydy's right. Nothing to the media. Nothing to anyone. Our feet will do the talking.
hawks2767 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Bear in mind the Police will do everything they can to try antagonise people for a reaction to justify their numbers.
Jukes75 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 What's he saying? Imploring the FFA to install a proper appeals process
Edinburgh Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 A plea to the FFA to install an appeals process now and stand up for the fans - saying this is serious - he is quite emotional too.
