Yes, the AFC only recognises one knockout competition per country for qualification into AFC competitions

ALeague finals are counted as a 2nd Australian knockout competition

Surely we want to go to the ACL The ACL 2 is a totally Mickey Mouse league.

Although I love the crazy grounds with overgrown running tracks, about 40 people in a 40000 seat stadium and faded portraits of a failed military dictatorship

I don't think the Championship winner gets an entry anymore, just the Aus Cup (ACL 2) and Premiers (ACL Elite)? Would rather be in ACL 2 because it is actually winnable for ALM teams

Ah right. Interesting that the only path to ACL 2 is the Aus cup.

Presents a very interesting picture if an NPL team ever managed to win it

Its probably why FFA chose that as THE cup to qualify from and why AFC saw that as the bigger cup over the toilet seat.

I would like to know how the revenue margins work with ACLE. PFA along with other Asian unions did mention even with the old setup it didn't help clubs break even and the same was said with the new setup that it still didn't adequately address the funding issues. I don't know if this holds true with the jump in prize money from both comps? No ones ever done an in depth breakdown as to how it works for the clubs.

There were rumours for Draws and Victories  in ACLE you get extra bonuses $100,000 for a win and $20,000 for a draw. But I can't find anywhere on AFC sites that this is correct.

Would have been an amasing experience to play an actual competitive match against Real Madrid. A real shame we had to play on a flooded cow paddock in the prior match 😠

We would have beaten Real Madrid in the next game too....I'm sure of it.

A couple of years back a J League 2 team qualified for the Champions League via their national cup. They came up against Melbourne City. I can't remember the result. They were a no frills team high in grit and determination. You could easily see the drop in quality compared to the typical J League 1 side that qualifies for the CL.

I think it was K-league 2 actually. And yea its the year City fumbled against a ASEAN club I think from Malaysia

Are you new here?

People would work out entire DNA sequences quicker than he is likely to get a peck on the cheek

These guys calculated this quicker

Bookies have City, WU (why??), and WSW as favourites for the games so that would mean the following week 1 elimination finals: WSW v Victory, and then WU v Adelaide.

Is it too early to start thinking about where to eat next week?

Or hope that the Smurfs draw with Heartle$$ and Auckland kill off the Western Fraudsters (FIFA official now)

City favourites makes sense. Smurfs played them only a month ago and City were very aggressive all game it was just the individual talent of Segicic and Costa keeping them in the game. With so many outs Lolley, Klimala and Alex Grant and over reliance on the individual talent its hard to see Smurfs winning but a draw is possible, City could have an off day in front of goal like against Adelaide.

I have no idea why WU is favourite against Auckland. The last game was at Tarneit and Auckland won, Auckland will also not rest players because of the bye at best I do see a draw, but I can see Auckland regaining the groove to win here.

Then us. Look if Victory could beat the Cows there is no reason to think we can't do the same. And we should be winning, home finals are on the line, otherwise its a trip to Melbourne away. Melbourne historically hasn't been great from our club aside from this season with Staj. I would be more confident at home

I think Smurfs are very determined to win that game against City to get that 6th place, and depending how other results go, we might face them again at home in the knockout qtr finals if we finish 3rd and they finish 6th

They should have been very determined last weekend at WU but didn't show it.
