  • Parramatta Stadium To Be Rebuilt!

    mack

The NSW Government have announced long awaited plans to knock down and rebuild Parramatta Stadium, the home of the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 30,000 planned capacity is the culmination of the long-term stadium development strategy of the NSW Government, with the political lobbying and jockeying between Parramatta Stadium, the Sydney Football Stadium, ANZ Stadium and Penrith Stadium finally put to rest, at least in terms of the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The first stadium to be built is a new Parramatta Stadium, with the existing stadium demolished to make way for a new 30,000 capacity stadium. A new stadium at Moore Park in the CBD will be between 50,000 and 55,000 seats, and it is likely that ANZ Stadium will be fully rectangularised and may have a retractable roof.

Another potential long-term boom for either the Wanderers or the A-League itself, is a plan for a new stadium in Western Sydney perhaps at Penrith or Liverpool, both locations could provide for matches to be played by the Wanderers, or see the stadium as the home for a new A-League team.

The new Parramatta Stadium is expected to be complete by early 2019 at a cost of approximately $300 million.

I call upon the Wanderers, Football Federation Australia and the NSW Government to ensure that our club is not left out of discussions about the facilities and design at the venue, European style Safe Standing should be a priority at the new stadium to ensure a fully world class venue.

While it is likely the naming rights will be up for sale, I also put forward that the new stadium be called Dino Park.

It may not be the best solution but relocating Parramatta pool and utilising that area will make planning much easier.

I've suggested this many times before.

It would open up the stadium and provide a fantastic entry concourse, as well as opening up a bit of extra space for the actual footprint of the stadium.

Probably wouldn't allow much space for the stadium itself, but would certainly be able to add a wonderful entry concourse.

    Here's the first teaser:

Have you ever walked across one of the bridges and looked down to the water ?

I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

It's a bit... well, rank. I often see people fishing in there.

    Needs better lighting.

Good enough for the AFC, but the FFA said it was shite.

Honestly, was just testing some tunnel lighting.

Gazmon, what will you do with your spare time once the design of the new ground has been finalized?

Find another one to redesign. No idea... really.

Do we fight the Eels over their perceived right to name the stands ?

They can call it what they want, Wanderers can call it what they want.

It'll officially be west grandstand, East terrace, North terrace, etc

It's a no brainer.... Shinji stand and the Dino stand with the brass statue of ' Right hand of Covic stance' outside. Red and Black seating also, They had their years in blue. We must not have sky blue seats, it must not happen.

Yes, part of the planning stage is a battle between WSW fans and Eels fans in the stadium car park to see who comes out on top, winner takes all... seat colour, name pattern in seats and stand names.

I will stand on the hill to wait and see who is winning and join that side  :P Like the Stanley's at the Battle of Bosworth field   ;)

If they have as many people at the battle as they do at games, we'll win it easily

Their crowds have halved since the government run Residential Centre for Dept. of Ageing and Disability facility across the road closed down.  :ninja:

Read an article with Hindy talking about the new stadium and he was quoted as saying that he's seen some drawings of the design for the new stadium. Doubt they're the final ones but it seems as though this is moving nice and quickly.

That hill behind the RBB outside the ground is penciled in as the Bulut Hill.

It's where I go when I get kicked out, Bulut got kicked out - makes sense.

The last two were meant to be day pictures, but I rendered them wrong. There isn't any texture on the surfaces yet either, so it would have been bland nonetheless.
