Parramatta Stadium To Be Rebuilt!

I worked on some of the BER stuff. Majority of the stuff is copy paste. Engineering wise it was peanuts, the contractors milked it.

Just like every government scheme. People will find loopholes and abuse the system.

yep, and those same people rort the government complain about how every tax hike is unjustified.

I hate it when this thread is quiet.

I want a new stadium, and I want it NOW!

Worked has much as I can on the design that I showed earlier... my PC has hit it's processing limit.

But, after showing Mrs Gazmon what I have done she has encouraged me to actually get off my butt and look at doing some actual qualifications in architecture.

Good stuff Gaz.

You really have an eye for stadium design.

I would seriously love your last design to be sent to the NSW Govt. That type of stadium would be quite unique in this country and would make a real statement as to what is best for rectangular sports with limited ongoing huge supporter bases.

Even a 10000 crowd in that design would sound so much better than say, what Pirtek is now.

Like a local primary school I know, got charged just under a million for a new toilet block, under the Rudd governments recession busting BER scheme!

I'd say that was more to do with how they decided the money was going to be spent, it is very well known that due to the high demand during that period & limited supply of builders that they were easily able to quote projects with a ridiculously high premium. The NSW government doesn't really have that excuse.

I worked on the BER as both a surveyor and a sparky (apprentice). Not sure what shortage of builders there was, but the guys knew full well they were ripping the government/everyone off. It was a disgrace. Schools that need a library would get a second hall instead (at an enormous amount), that would take up valuable playground area...

Anyway, enough on idiots.

Good on you Gazmon! A mate finished all his archetecture stuff recently...tough but great! You have an eye and an interest in it so thats a help. I vote 1 you do eiit!

Did they end up transforming one of the Brazilian stadiums for the 2016 World Cup into a prison yet? If so that'd be my choice for the new stadium design, that way the police could transform it into what they actually want parramatta stadium to look like. A jail cell for each seat so nobody could link arms with one another & couldn't raise there hands above heads :nono:

Edit: Referring to 2014 Brazilian World Cup

So what's the go? When will we get some official timeframes, plans etc?

“Work on a new Parramatta Stadium is scheduled to begin almost immediately and will replace the stadium with a world class venue,†Mr Ayres said.

“Detailed design and construction planning will get underway within months. Our goal is to complete construction within this term of Government."

So does "almost immediately" mean more than "months" or are they going to start the work before they have done "detailed design and construction planning".

Yeah they're all pretty vague terms to me... Doesn't tell us anything new.

I'm not sure why you would expect anything further at this time.  Using UEFA's time we are probably in this phase:-

Project concept phase – 6 months

During this stage, the stadium developer needs to prepare the core documents that define in detail the project brief and the cost plan/budget, and address other key areas such as the construction process and urban planning issues. The architect and other specialist consultants need to be commissioned to produce a design concept based on these core documents and parameters. By this stage, the stadium developer will have identified and acquired the site and should have established a positive and fluid dialogue with the local authorities and community to ensure smooth development of the site.

I would assume Venues NSW would have carriage of the project but I am unsure if they have the expertise in house to run with the development of the brief etc.
