Just this year. But I think it was regulars in the rbb, not necessarily rbb official.

well i can categorically deny that came from any of the RBB organisation group as we did not attend the forum given active support meeting was the night before and did not want the regular WSW forum hogged by active support discussions.

how many years ago was this? a lot has changed since then

We have not pushed for any walk out song/anthem as yet as nothing suggested has been good to be honest. Yes we sing glorious because of the choreo with scarves that goes with it, but until another song/chant is raised as an idea and has overwhelming support for it, why force through something that would sound just as crap as what is happening now?

It's also difficult to force something - happy to listen to ideas, but after flicking through the forums there has literally been no suggestions that jump off the page

THIS YEAR!  The pre-season forum held at the stadium!!  Were you there? I’m sure some other forumites were there and can vouch for what happened.

If the RBB have a different opinion to that expressed at the forum then they should make it known. Heaps of people have opinions on the unsuitability of Glorious and would rather almost anything else instead.

In fact, I think if the RBB sang “these colours unite us all” the stadium would definitely join in. (I have great memories of that song being launched at AAMI :))

Thanks for the update, and for engaging on this issue, BD!

Glad to hear all you've said here.

Is it possible the RBB might consider trying These Colours, which is a more popular chant...for the walkout ....some time?

With even a half decent response at a few games, it could be announced as a chant before the RBB actually starts - to alert people that its about to start?

At later games, if people were more receptive to joining in than they are to Glorious, and if you wanted evetyone able to join in, you could put the lyrics to These Colours on the big screen for newcomers? Until it's solid.

Lyrics on the screen is smurf plastic behaviour

I'm also one for "These Colours Unite Us All. My favourite chant.

With combined RBB choreography (pointing to the stands for the "ohh ohh ohh ohh" reply, it works.

I don't mind Glorious, and am happy to live with it, but I think this works better.

Yep...'These colours' is the best chant we currently have that could be turned in to a walk out song. It is a chant that has not reached its full potential in my opinion.

It gets people active and holding scarfts up, they clap along even when its not the "ohh ohh ohhh ohh" part and in time might join in with the whole thing....

Sure.

It probably wouldn't be necessary,  because enough people are familiar with it, and are happy to sing it.

And it's simple.

PS I certainly wasn't  suggesting you'd need it more than once or twice. But it's probably quite unnecessary.

Instead of on the screen you could put it in the match day program if you wanted to get it out there. Obviously a lot of the rusted on tragics would already know it, and probably don't need lyrics.

Ask Boney M to come out of retirement and set us off on the pitch, they were German weren't they, MB could pull some strings?

I'm sure this isn't a representative enough forum to try to have something as important as the choice of a Walkout song get any further than a general discussion - but it is good to see the issue being discussed. Again. LOL

I think most other clubs in the A League now do have something stirring played, or played and sung, as the teams walk out. This loosens the crowd up, and with some clubs, the walkout song now probably stirs their emotions, and people WANT to sing, and are PROUD to sing their club song. It eliminates that flat feeling that some games start with, and it unifies the whole stadium at the start of a game. Which is the main point of an anthem.

Anyway, it's good that people here are chipping in with their thoughts....and I hope a few others come and do so.

PS If any of the forumites, like @Edinburgh and @andypk who went to the Victory game drop in here, can they offer an opinion on the Vic supporters' reaction to their Walkout song?  It's given me chills to hear it live in my couple of visits to AAMI, and I love hearing it on TV (but missed the start of our game on TV last weekend). They seem to take it seriously - although no doubt not everyone would have approved of the choice when it was first introduced.

Tell that to the people here (including the cops) - with competition from SFC's chant - which interferes a bit.

From 4 years ago.

PS It's good that the North Terrace seems to be back in action??

“Dear Melbourne Victory, this is the worst display of plastic Kopite bellendery I have had the misfortune to witness”

is that enough?

Maybe affected by being at Marvel rather than AAMI, I was impressed with the participation of scarves up right around the stadium and I suppose they were all singing too but I didn't feel it was as imposing as it has appeared to be on TV.

I've never been to  Marvel...only at AAMI twice, some seasons ago, and it was great!

They have had some seasons of disruption to active support, but it seems like it's back and sounding strong.

Well... the North end South end chant sounded good! As I said, I missed the walkout.

Ahhhh... I noticed that the South end sounded a bit louder than the North, now that I think of it, so maybe you're right!

Why not they have had him advertising merchandise

He's a Wanderers supporter, he’s proper Western Sydney and is music is “down with the kids” and appeals to a younger demographic better him than some Johnny F***ing Farnham with some song that half of our supporters are too young to remember
