Home game so mandatory in, should be 16 plus for this one

I think this ones about the strikers and hopefully last weeks game has Bridgey back to his best after fluffing a few chances in recent weeks. Heart says win for us, head says they have too much up front. Personally id take a draw now given the form of the city attack. Hopefully i'm wrong and we flog them.

Redders has made some really brilliant saves though.

Reddy needs to have a game just to answer the question, would prefer it against a team we have a better chance of beating though.

Yeah - don' think this is the game to bring Reddy in, this is an absolute must win and clangers aside - Redders is 'match fit', where Reddy isn't. Redmayne spilling the odd ball is not the reason why we're not hammering opposition sides.

The prospect of facing real striking quality again in Fornaroli, coupled with the news that the Jets have signed 32-year-old Danish international striker Nordstrand, reminds everyone of the need to make good striker signings, particularly when they are a marquee.

If we are going to win the title this year, with a dud striker still sitting on our books, we will have well and truly deserved the crown!

Perhaps next season we can improve our scouting and judgment!

wet weather will dampen our style of play but will give a chance for pio to show his versatlity. Starve the midfield and they go no where, just like the first time we played them when mooy was missing.

Weather looks HORRENDOUS.

Still all but sold out though.

Thunderstorms forecast for a Wanderers game? Nothing new there :woah:

#ReddyIn :good:

Teasing or serious?

Has to happen.

Redmayne is a liability & we can't afford to start games 1 behind on the scoreboard

I like that we stand strongly behind our players but it's just small lapses in technique that are letting Redders down, if he does get picked, I just hope the one stuff up doesn't lead to a goal.

So Pio has been named in the squad, eh?

Obviously we can't unload him.

Two to be omitted..... Still time
Yes exactly, Pio was named in the squad for Mariners too before he was omitted. Just means that he is fit. That's all.

I disagree with this, the drainage is excellent & if you remember the ACL match in which we experienced a storm that is fitting for the apocalypse, you could hardly tell that it was raining.

With the excellent drainage it will actually assist our passing game (fast, short slick & disadvantage city who will look to play on the counter with longer passes. Goal keeping will be difficult to judge any ball that bounces in front of them.

Pio was training with the team today, no smiles tho

Hopefully Fred puts in a performance that we'll all remember for a long time, we are all behind him!!

If Pio plays (hope he does) then I hope he grasps the opportunity and sreamrollers onward towards the finals, we all want him to come good. Now is his time..... if Popa gives him the chance.....

Can't see Popa starting him, our front four in the last 2 games has been excellent & would be harsh if one of them was relegated to the bench. Derby I can understand not starting Pio, but not starting him against the 10th place Mariners, perfect opportunity for him to get his confidence back.

Maybe he will go with the same side as last time we have played city? Wait till city are out on there feet after 60 minutes & bring Castelen/Santa on to trouble the defences?

he presses hard and putting pressure on the back 4 is what we need to do. City come out guns blazing but lack the 90 minute engine. We also sometimes tend to pass the easy along the back four around to mids, instead of looking for the direct fwd ball. Need a few of players to every now and then take the Jameson/Castelen approach and mix it up and run at players. Will be a great battle and a hard thought win will give us a bit more of comfort lead away from the rest.

Trouble is I don't see Pio as a Santa style impact sub.

We came first in our inaugural season with a dud striker so who's to say it won't happen this year

If we're changing up the front four (which I'm not sure we will), I want Sotirio in. Or maybe Golgol. I think we need someone who can get the ball and play direct with some pace. Assuming they play 3 at the back, there'll be space behind their wingbacks that Sotirio could really exploit, definitely more than Vidosic/Castelen/Bridge who all look to cut in. A couple of weeks ago we struggled with their pressing, so a fast out ball in behind could be really helpful too.

Worried about Neville tbh. If Castelen doesn't track back with Zullo, Scotty's gonna really have his hands full with him and Novillo. Maybe better off using Romeo as an impact player.

We are lucky that Andreu or Dimas usually cover Castelen, he doesn't have enough in the tank to get forward & then get back to defend.

I'd like to see Gol Gol over Sotirio, so many cameos off the bench but it's time for him to show what he can do starting over 60-70mins. Seeing as he started bridge as striker in the derby plus scoring a goal last week, can't see him dropping him for this match. If Santa doesn't start, I can't see both Santa & Pio on the bench.

Yep this is your absolute last chance to impress me Fred.

Don't let me down.

:sorry:

Wet weather should benefit freds bulkier frame, will score a brace. Then again for weeks I've been trying to conjure up why X condition will suit him and he will score so based on pure probability and all the times I have been wrong I have to be right this time!

Shaun Evans is the ref for tomorrow

I do like Shaun. Best young ref in the country for me, lets the game flow. Nice appointment.

THE BRICKLAYER COMES TO WANDERLAND!

He did the MV game didn't he? That went quite smoothly with no controversy.

I'd dispute our front four had a good game against Mariners. To many poor touches, final balls and finishing.

He has trouble keeping his feet in dry conditions!
