MathyouWSW Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I was about to message on here about Vukovic. He'll is currently 35 so he'll most likely hang up the boots. Victory might sign him.

Can't ever remember that being the case in previous seasons. I know that Shinji used to come as a sub, Pio was out because he was useless and Saba had attitude problems, and Lorente and Cejudo struggled at times...but three at once. In the second half of S5 Borda, Dumas, Pinatares did not feature any longer, and Jumpei was on the bench. Martinez was the only import starting player. Worst recruitment in the off season ever. sonar Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 According to Ultimate A league Stats I think you'll find that Dimas played 50 games and started 46 of them..... https://www.ultimatealeague.com/player_detail.php?player_id=941&season=2016-17 .and Jumpei played 38 and started 31....... https://www.ultimatealeague.com/player_detail.php?player_id=1013

I'd say you are right, Mueller seems to have lost his mojo since his injury a couple of months back. CR made a comment late December that the manager can use the off season to put his stamp on a squad, and that in six months time the team would look entirely different. Words to that effect. Since then we've seen the return of Yeboah, Kamau and Wilmering, the emergence of Natta, and the addition of Mutch. I'd say that Mueller, Cox, Ziegler, DG are all on their bike. Doesn't look good for Grozos and JoD. Lesiotis and Cancar are yet to make an appearance, and seem gone. If the body of a 25yo Kamau is not up for 90 minutes and needs special care, I can't see him being around next season. Vedran's jobkeeper arrangement with WSW is also coming to an end. That would be 10 players on their way out. If you add Baccus to the list (surely he'll be off to Europe after this season), we are looking at a whole team going. The crazy thing is that hardly any of them would be missed. The six senior players CR has signed so far (seven if we add Ugarkovic to the list) are all quality. I am already looking forward to another four or five others of that category joining for next season. But most importantly, Gordon and Duke need to stay. StringerBellend, Wanderboy and EmMac 3

My recollection is that in the final stages of the season, Bruno had lost his spot to Antonis, Dimas to Baccus the elder, Borda his spot to Cornflakes, and Jumpei was alternating with Sotirio. We beat the unbeatable Smurfs at ANZ with the line up below, but maybe that game is coloring my memory. Western Sydney Wanderers: 20.Vedran JANJETOVIC (gk), 3.Jack CLISBY, 6.Mitch NICHOLS (c) (14.Jumpei KUSUKAMI 85’), 10.Nicolás MARTÍNEZ, 11.Brendon SANTALAB (29.Ryan GRIFFITHS 90’), 12.Scott NEVILLE, 15.Kearyn BACCUS, 16. At the moment Gordon and Dorrans are the only ones starting. On the flip side I'm happy the local lads have stepped up. The matter of Cox is almost tragic. He stays at the club, misses the birth of his first child, just to find himself on the bench, behind Duke, Ibini, Mueller, Kamau, Yeboah. My goodness. Mutch was not signed for the bench, he is class, as are Dorrans and Baccus. Competition for the midfield spots will keep them on their toes. JoD is the loser here. In the first few rounds Mueller was our best player. Now he is not. As I mentioned above, I'd say he's been told that the club is planning without him next season. StringerBellend Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 We’ve had a few periods where the foriegn players didn’t start, coincided with us being crap Adeleke, Saba bring frozen out Pinatares, Borda , being frozen out while Dimas was home sick Gumby pushing Jumpy out Dimas player a lot of games but you can split his stint into 2. The season with Andreu he was sexual, the next season he was homesick and surrounded by crap players he was terrible is still get angry thinking how the club let Andreu, Alberto and castelan go to bring in Pinatares, Borda and Jumpy while at the same time moving to a bigger stadium, we are only now recovering from that on field Zelinsky and sonar 2
Paul01 Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Tass playing NPL2 Noah James starting as well. Cancar as well
Hughesy Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I saw Georgevski and Ziegler walking around the stadium in their full tracksuit at half time on Friday night with a club official. Ziegler was deep in conversation with the official and Georgevski was 5m behind looking pretty serious.

He is 29 and apparently just got through 5 games without injuring himself, which seems to be a record. I don't think he will be too unhappy sharing the CM roles while he gets back up to speed. He's going to have hard choices to make though if he actually wants to stay. Baccus and Dorrans have at least another season. And Ugarkovic is coming too. The upside to this is we will see at least 2 new foreigners at the end of the season with Muller seemingly unwanted and Cox not up to the task MajorMelons 1
Davo Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Good chance we'll lose Margush, Tass, Russell, Wilmering, Baccus and Duke to Socceroos/Olyroos at some points during the season so we'll need the depth. We'll probably be one of the worst hit clubs but we also have the most depth and I'm sure that's not a coincidence. Paul01 and alexd 2

Also I have no idea how much depth the Olyroos have at centre back but I wonder how far off Natta would be. He's only 18 but he has more senior footballing experience than a lot of U23 players who'd mostly have NPL experience. alexd 1
MajorMelons Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Mutch is in the mix already, just behind the other two DMs, and will probably be a starter next season if Baccus leaves for Europe. Why are people saying that Muller is on the outer? Looks to me like he wants to be here and is in the process of getting his fitness back. I dare say he will be in the starting 11 in a few weeks, unless I missed something..? Cox is a good player but there is a lot of competition for the second striker spot alongside Duke. Whether he stays will depend on what strikers we sign/retain for next season.

THEWANDERERSPOST Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I was today advised that we are interested in signing Vukovic. I think it is a good move considering Margush will likely go on Olyroos duty as starting/backup keeper. Margush has definitely earned a first team spot, but as we have seen, Robinson wants competition for places. Yeah Vukovic was a smurf but i'd take him, still reckon he is a quality keeper. I can't see him moving out of Sydney considering his decision to move back because of family. Most teams in NSW have a senior keeper bar Wanderers and Wellington (Marinovic on the bench).
sonar Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Tbh I think they will take Tom Glover over Margush as first choice.

Mind you national teams usually pick 3 keepers.

Everything I've read about Vukovic coming back is that it's just for the birth of another child. Once that's over he's on the market to sign for another club with a return overseas being the preference.
mack Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 Would imagine SFC would have the best chance at getting him. Heward-Belle isn't an A-League level keeper and Redmayne is going back to the old Redmayne.
