  • Sydney FC Steal Last Parramatta Derby

    mack

Two set piece goals were enough to give a stubborn Sydney FC the victory in the Sydney Derby tonight.

The last Sydney Derby before Parramatta Stadium is knocked down was won by the visitors, despite being dominated in terms of possession and territory, took full advantage of two set piece opportunities while the Wanderers once again spent the majority of the game kicking the ball around the penalty box and not shooting.

Sydney FC launched a corner that went beyond the back post, was headed back in before being turned in by Jacques Faty. Their goal secured, Sydney FC parked a flotilla of buses, getting all 11 men deep into their own half in an ultra defensive display of stubborn anti-football.

Dario Vidosic managed to bring the game back to 1-1 with a superb curling effort before the hour mark. It looked like only one team could go on to win the match, but it was not to be.

When Topor-Stanley hauled down an attacker after letting him run far too close to the Wanderers penalty area, Sydney FC fired in a free kick that was once again knocked back down, this time for substitute Shane Smeltz to smash home unmarked at the start of stoppage time.

In most sports, a team who are dominant in terms of possession, territory and quality will win comfortably against the inferior team, as weight of scoring chances eventually tells to produce the expected result.

Football is not like most sports.

Its all be said all ready about the game. Man it hurts. Its not only in the RBB where the eventers turn up it happened in 21 and 22 as well. seats that are empty every week were all of a sudden full and, for whats supposed to be a members only area, people in all their WSW gear having to check their tickets and seats to know where to sit. F off i say.

Also, if your a WSW member its not ok to bring your boyfriend/partner along and allow him to wear a smurf shirt in a Wanderers members area. get him a ticket down the other efing end and sit with that lot.

My mate (mentioned on another thread) is an SFC fan. He sat with me, wore a red shirt and behaved like a good boy. Even got a pic of him in Mrs. Gazmon's WSW bucket hat.

Be like Ruben. Ruben is a good boy.

We have two guys next to us. Season 1, there every game. Season 2... most games. Season 3 about 4. Season 4, only 2 so far... drives me nuts.

The RBB is not imploding - relax.

A quick forum before the next home match so everyone is back on the same page would be welcome.

Wasn't there a bit of a stuff up pre-season with the membership sales which resulted in people getting RBB membership who didn't really want it or something in that regard? I seem to remember some discussion around availability and new members ending up with Active?

I'm still not 100% convinced that we won't be back at Parra for the start of next season either. It's only 9 months away.

I'd say work will start around September/October... let the Eels have the last game, we can have the first at the new one ;)

If the Eels have the last game will there be a funeral pyre again?

So do we have an answer to the question raised a few weeks back? Is the RBB section undersold? I'm in the white and black section, left of RBB, it was more packed than usual (flogs minding a dozen seats so we get penalised for being on the march and have to shuffle further and further north, but whatevs). The RBB bays adjacent were empty, not because of bunching, just empty. What gives? Felt like jumping the fence and joining in with Redwog juniors.

Agree 100% **** off and sit amongst your own >>>>>>> in bay 50 that's exactly what happened, some elder WSW chap obviously brought his Smurf Mate, shirt and all, all got a bit nasty mid game with other WSW fans, handbags really but security got involved.

Business as usual. We didn't take our chances, they did. The writing was on the wall once Vidosic, Castelen and Bridge failed to score in the first half.

The ends have about 1,700 seats (roughly)... do we know the total RBB member numbers?

Would make sense to cap it at around 1,500. Allows for movement for security and so forth if needed.

A secco at our end, ground side of the fence was going around telling smurfs (only a handful) to cover up their shirts. After the winner, two of them upped and bolted, we gave them a spray. :)

if you show up wearing an opposition jersey at a derby and try to get into the home end you should be refused entry. end of.

When we get a 30k stadium I still want them capped into a corner at 1500 or whatever it is, **** them it's our stadium.

A home derby for us should mean not a single ESFC jersey outside of their little away playpen - the type of people that bring a mate in and sit next to him wearing opposite jerseys are the lowest - the big bore league is that way ----->

I still think it's undersold. Why though, well theories abound.

its 10% which is given to the away team, so we'll get another 1000.

10%? Heard that it was as minimum of 800 or 5%, whichever is the greater. I believe the 10% was for finals fixtures. I could be wrong.

Can only begin to imagine what may happen if joker wearing a BCFC shirt sat in Villa end during a derby. Always surprises me that it's ok here. Just asking for trouble.

Should give you guys at least 5k away seats in the new stadium because after all you allow us to bring between 15-18k to your ground.

Should be ALL away fans in there own section, like 99% of the world.

So true about the rest of the world. A lot of EPL teams have a disclaimer that pops up when buying tickets that says something along the lines of "this is a .... supporter area & it is expected that you are a supporter of the ... club. If you are found wearing the opposing team's merchandise, you will be refused entry".

    in a similar vein

waiting for the march to come past us and there were 3 smurf fans standing on the side of the road, the cops very politely told them to move along.

    Damn right.

This mixed support thing might be fine for NRL and AFL, but in football it's a no brainer: away fans in their away section. Looks ******* dumb seeing mixed jerseys in the A-League when BT Sport in England is broadcasting our league to their people.

Will we be at Penrith while the redevelopment is happening, or do we stay at home.

Haven't heard anyone talk about the goal from Vidosic. Mad class. Silky smooth. Calm and collected. Crisp curl.

Just need to do it more often.

Having a scoring '9' helps that... :( I like Pio, but... we need more goals.

Totally agree with this...I would love to watch a game with my daughter who is a die hard Coveite. We totally understand this can never happen and accept it for what it is. Her loss...  :woah:  :woah:  :woah:
