Brendan Hamill

You'd think given how much La Rocca has been neglecting his DM duties lately (admittedly he's scored a couple in doing so), Popa is unlikely to ask him to play at CB - although I guess with Hamill out and Golec deputising for Cole for the rest of the season, if Spira is injured we really don't have any other options. Golec seems a reasonable alternative for NTS but La Rocca can at least stand a chance of bringing the ball out of defence - something Golec doesn't have the technical ability to do.

It's a pretty grim picture when Golec is your next replacement centre back. Even Hamill has been a liability in the past month or so. Without Spiranovic or Topor Stanley there, our defence looks shaky. I would go for La Rocca simply because when he has played there before he seems to have managed well enough.

The other option is to give a young guy a go and see how he goes. We have nothing to lose at this stage and it would be good to see if any younger player is up to it.

Out for season

Source?
I think this has also been discussed in the squad development thread, but here is the source -http://m.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/western-sydney-wanderers/season-over-for-western-sydney-wanderers-defender-brendan-hamill-20150306-13xfpw.html
Headline says it but the article just says "Popa thought it was just a cork & it's worse than that". No rhetoric from Popa or the club saying season over.

Headline on SMH: Season over for Western Sydney Wanderers defender Brendan Hamill

Hopes of the Western Sydney Wanderers hauling themselves off the bottom of the A-League table and defending their Asian Champions League triumph have been dealt a major blow with defender Brendan Hamill sidelined for the rest of the year.
"We've just got some scans confirmed and unfortunately it's a lot worse than what we first thought. We were hoping it was just a cork to the quad but the scans revealed it was a pretty major tear,"

Saying it was a quadricips tear and a pretty major one would put the time-frame at a month before he's even thinking about coming back, two or more if it's a more normal recovery time and we're talking about getting back onto the pitch instead of just exercise routines. Given that it's the 9th March today - yeah, he's out for the season.

Also, quad and hamstring tears are usually a sign of inadequate warm-up or recovery times - we can all guess at which one happened here. Thanks FFA!

lol at the FB keyboard warriors condemning the signing, obvious supporters who only turned up for the Sydney Derbies....

I may have wandered in there and questioned how much of a fan some of them really are...

FB is the place to go if you want to fart, burp, throw up and generally just want to make a nuisance of yourself.
