Ryall taking personal leave.....

Quitting the game to look at other ventures as disillusioned with the game apparently.

Wonder what he has planned next, for those of us who would have killed to have played football professionally it is an odd one, but then Seb is an odd ball.

The A-League facebook page posted about it and the comments section didn't disappoint.

Favourites included "Probably planning to join an under 10's team" and "Marrying his fiance before school starts back".

I’m not a fan of Ryall but for someone who’s been at the club for almost 10 years, it’s a pretty shitty send off for him

Odd timing given ACL is about start which, given the 3+1 rule he would be a chance to play CB in.

maybe the Sainsbury loan rumour is true

Dinamo Zagreb has joined the mix. Rumoured loan move with the option to buy at the end of the season.

Don't you just love the latest Arnie quote:

"I hardly slept last night, my phone was going nearly all night from agents all around the world putting players forward, because everyone wants to come to Sydney FC."

Lol.

He's so deluded.

Abbas is an Australian citizen (has been since 2012).

Ferreira (who is already an Australian citizen - but not eligible to be recognised as an Aussie in Champions League, needs to be a citizen for at least 12 months first) has been training with them for 10 days but not officially signed yet (probably announced tomorrow).

And they signed Ben Warland (CB, Aussie) from Adelaide United today.

I'd like to know how they are so much fitter than the rest of the competition. Almost Lance Armstrongesque. So what is the secret?

They've got one of the most renowned strength and conditioning coaches in the country (Andrew Clark).

So they have signed him as opposed to all those thousands of overseas players who want to come and play for Sydney?

They want to be seen as giving a crap about the salary crap, officially anyway. Signing Ferreira makes it less obvious that they don't give a crap.

But will he stay when Arnie goes at the end of the season?

Craig Foster explain the formula used by Arnie to achieve success after finishing 7th a few seasons ago

No current Socceroos, Olyroos or Ypung Socceroos in the squad.

Narrow the squad and don't select youth unless you have to.

The only way to counter this is for the A-league competition rules to specify that a minimum of 2 u21 players are on the match day squad list for every team (with the bench extended to 7) and that all u21 players are guaranteed a minimum number of minutes per season.

Wouldn't that guarantee that clubs run with the minimum number of u21 players? You wouldn't get any youth players thrown a contract for experience when they're still a year away from being ready. Probably easier to say there's a set number of u21 minutes clubs can split over any number of players.

No league in the world mandates time for youth players. It'll never happen. The Chinese league mandated a starting spot for a youth player and clubs would just sub them off after 5 minutes. That is exactly what Arnold would do if you forced him to put a 20 year old in the starting lineup.

I've been listening to US podcasts and that seems to be the way their thinking.

I'm putting it out there for discussion.

Forced inclusion of youth just to say you are including youth does not develop youth. It just gives them all a fair turn and comes back to this PC crap of telling everyone they’re brilliant even when they’re not. If a youth player is good enough then they’ll naturally progress into the starting 11.

People want the romance of home grown talents rising through the ranks and becoming club legends en masse, whilst also winning trophies. The two don’t mix (very often).

I hate seeing these bastards doing so well but honestly, it’s only a rort if you’re not involved. Not one person here can pretend they’d be complaining if we were doing the same thing and were sitting on top so convincingly.

Andrew Clarke - former CCM player come S+C coach. He’s probably the best in the business right now
