Does anybody really care? Our big foreign signing from last year and Campbelltown wonder goal aside and a good derby performance, I’m struggling to thing of anything too memorable

He did get the most yellow cards this season in the whole league.

10 yellow cards and couple of suspensions... very memorable 😄

There is no point in signing hand me downs unless they fill a gap (Traore).

Besides, the good ones will have sorted out their new destinations weeks or months ago, and hopefully we have secured a few of those (again: Traore). The rest will be squaddies at best.

Unless someone like Bozanic becomes available, the quality players to strengthen the squad will have to come from outside the league.

It is priority that we finally get the five imports right - it would be a first in seven years! No wonder we have been struggling, how hard can it be?

Holding on to Kamau and Gordon is priority as well.

Get the coaching right, . Less talking/oxygen theft.

I would be amazed if we hung on to Kamau after the season he had.

Me too but another season wouldn't do any harm. I think players tend too early. Half a good season and they are off, end up not-playing in BL2. Better off having a season of smashing the league then going e.g. Mooy with City

I believe it's actually 11. Certain sites don't seem to have his card in the 5-4 against Victory.

The assumption is that he can go to Europe and continue on from where he is at now. That sounds great, in theory. The reality is that he is an injury prone player, and the coaching team made him match fit this season by giving him a lot of TLC. Take him out of that environment, and he may be back to square one.

He is worth a long term, well paid contract. He needs to know and understand that he is looked after at WSW. It's CR's job to communicate that, and we all know that he can talk.

Get the coaching right  says one post. How do you do that ?

Since Popa left a number of local and overseas coaches have been tried and all have failed. Are they all hopeless or are there other factors at play.

I think we could employ Guardiola , Klopp . Ancelotti , Tuchel and so on they would all most likely fail as well in the present circumstances. In the end it all gets back to the character and talent or lack of it of the players recruited. Also a thing called club culture. How do you change the culture , change of ownership or management cleanout or both. Doubt if those two things will ever happen.

But maybe CR will turn out a miracle worker this season and he will be regarded as a genius instead of copping abuse on here.

Local? Who?

I wouldn't classify Gombau as local.

Hayden Foxe only had a handfull of games and I personally feel JP didn't get a fair go at his role as the head coach for the club.

*IF* Robinson was sacked tomorrow, I personally would love to have the likes of Zwaanswijk or Haliti the opportunity to be the coach of the senior squad because they have experienced the A-League and would most likely know what is needed to be a successful club again.

You could even look at Stajcic to be decent candidate as well for the job.

Foxe was only an interim manager and although JP was technically given the full time job he was given the arse during pre season of his first season fully in charge. Neither were in the job anywhere near the length of the foreign managers. Not that I thought either of them were genuine manager material.

I think the most important thing for him is just to get game time. With uncertainty as to when the next A-league season starts its probably the best move for him now. But expect him to leave after 12 months if he gets pre-covid form back

Players released from Phoenix and Macarthur as well. Are we the last ones to not announce departures now besides the grand final teams?

speak of the devil

just announced:

The club farewells Academy graduates Kosta Grozos, who joined the Wanderers Academy in its first intake in 2015, and Mohamed Al-Taay, who joined in its second year, in 2016.

Grozos played 11 times for the club’s first team and will be remembered for captaining the Y-League squad to a championship in the 2017/18 season.

Nicolai Muller and Patrick Ziegler both depart the club after two and three seasons respectively with the Red & Black.

Muller played 37 times for the club scoring seven goals, while Ziegler leaves at the end of his three year spell with the club, playing 37 games.

Scott McDonald departs following the completion of his short-term agreement, having joined the Wanderers in April.

Goalkeeper Noah James returns to Newcastle Jets following the completion of his loan period.

The club is still in contact with a number of players coming off contract, including Wanderers Player of the Season Bruce Kamau, with talks continuing before any further announcements can be made.

Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club would like to thank all departing players for their effort and professionalism during their time with the club.

Well no surprises there. And at least negotiations are continuing with Kamau

Kamau is gone.

Club obviously begged him to make it look like we're still trying to sign him to save face.
