Why did braad start the beard thread.

Don't know how to upload a photo but if someone could get that WSW happy beard day post. Yes the club did put a photo for it. No one ever say they don't listen to their fans

From the moment I could grow an actual beard I have not been clean shaven once (about 6 years). Not only do I think it suits me, but I used to get a rash from shaving. I trim the beard every 1-2 months, but that's about it.

My old man is almost 60 and I've never seen his chin (except for photos of him under the age of 15 or so). He's got an epic beard which comes halfway down his chest. Similar to this (nowhere near as kept/well groomed though):

Since I was about 15 every couple of weeks I run the clippers over my entire head.

I could grow a decent beard but I wouldn't want to

A) break the habit of a lifetime

B) be mistaken for a trendy wanker

The beard commands a certain respect. It is a token symbol of accumulated wisdom. Wisdom that is embedded within every morsel of facial hair that has grown with every experience we have journeyed through.

The beard is strength. It knows no barriers. From kings to paupers. From warriors to mystics. The beard transcends all limitations.

Here's to the beard...RESPECT.

P.S. Braad, you gonna start growing one? It'd be fitting since you have started The Beard Thread.

I'm going to be a downer here, for there are negatives to having a beard that I feel should be told for the sake of full disclosure. During the winter a beard can be good, but when I'm in bed I find that the doona pushes the beard up into my mouth and up my nose. Eating a hamburger is messier than it needs to be, and extra vigilance is required when blowing ones nose. It could be said that some of these problems are more mustache related but I fell that a beard without a mustache is not a real beard.
