I now realize this game is not this weekend. However, I might have some internet trouble on Saturday anyway so just in case it goes really badly at least this thread is up.

I reckon a lot of forumites - even the diehards, might have given up caring about this season now.  Can anyone think of some reasons to be enthusiastic about this match?

1 It’s football, the off season goes on for ages, might as well enjoy what’s left

2 pre game beer and pizza in lidcombe

3 it’s better than being dragged around Ikea or Bunnings

    4 that’s all I’ve got

I feel like this seasons schedule of home games has been very erratic compared to previous seasons. It's been either feast or famine. Surely this isn't helping promote regular attendance from casuals on the fence or members struggling to maintain their motivation to keep coming back?

That's a fair point, remember growing up you could chisel it in stone, home this week away next week, rinse and repeat.

    They lost to Mariners.

    They beat East Sydney

Their form is so up and down that you'd get an aneurysm trying to pick a winner.

For the first time in a long time I actually think we'll win this.... brb brain bleeding.

    But we have Vedran!

We should have more football free international windows.

I’m fine with them. As long as we didn’t have youth and senior internationals being played the weekend before the break. Can you imagine how stupid that would be? Glad our FA hasn’t let that happen

I care so much for this game I'll spend the weekend in Melbourne after watching Richmond v C#@× Thursday night. Having said that I just got 8 tix for Newcastle away given that it and Mariners away are the only Active games left.

Perhaps pausing for international breaks wasn’t the great idea we all thought it would be?

The fact the Socceroos aren’t even playing a game this week seems almost pointless to even honour the break.

Its because the FFA are tight arses and Arnie has both the Olyroo and Socceroo jobs. Olyroo qualification tournament is over the international weekend so that was fine. But no coach to do anything with the Socceroos was silly from the FFA. We're gonna struggle to qualify for the WC as it is.

When the biggest problem most national team coaches face is a lack of time with their squad, having your first team coach unavailable because they're with the youth team is moronic.

But if that's the way the FFA want to play it then why not have a senior team camp in Cambodia at the same time? The youth team can train with the senior team and get experience with a senior camp, plus the first team players get to spend time with the young guys and give them advice. They could even organise a friendly between the Socceroos the Cambodian first team while they're there to get a game.

It's like they're not even trying to come up with solutions.

Edit: this should probably be in the national team thread but it's come up here and we have another week before the City game, so yeah...

    Spot on, completely ridiculous move.

I’ve kind of resigned to the fact I’ll be supporting Germany at the next World Cup (not that they are a sure thing any more based on current form).

Weather forecast 70% chance of thunderstorm atm, of course it is.

Just want to see this past month of improvement not going to waste after the break, hope the impetus kicks on not fades away, going for a WSW 2v MC 1

My hope is it’s given Yeboah and Bridge a bit more recovery time and we haven’t picked up any new injuries in training.

Finals are now almost entirely out of the question, even winning every single game. But winning whatever we can before next season will be great for morale.

I just want to see The King score

It would be a perfect sendoff if he scored our last goal of the season...........he scored our first in the HAL.

Don't know what to think about this game. How can anyone expect a top notch effort from our lads considering how poor we were last time, plus the international break and whatever the story is with our Olyroo trio. On the other hand, as said before, Melchester are up & down like a whore's drawers. Throw in what will be another insipid experience at ANZ and the possibility of crap weather and it could be another 'Meh Fest'

Oh well, guess one can fire up for Royal Oak $4.90 schooners & pizza.

We expect it because we’ve seen this squad fire now a few times. I expect it because these players simply have to give a good account of themselves if they want support when returning to parramatta.

Wearing the red and black and playing at Parra is something these men should cherish. I want to see that they’ve got the heart and desire to do it, not just ‘Vedran’ it. This should feel like more than a paycheque to them
