  • Henrique Keeps Wanderers Anchored To Bottom

    mack

A dubious early penalty converted by Henrique on a stormy night in Parramatta kept the Wanderers winless and adrift in last place on the A-League ladder.

The gift penalty from Kris Griffiths-Jones was slotted down the middle by the diminutive forward, while the Wanderers were content to dink the ball around the edges of the penalty box in an apparent refusal to shoot at goal, a refusal which cost them a chance of getting even a point from the game.

Seyi Adeleke was adjudged to have brought down a Roar player in the box and Henrique made no mistake to open the scoring in the 4th minute. The Roar were the better in the first half but couldn't add to their lead.

The Wanderers took control of the match in the second stanza, but a seeming obsession with playing on the flanks instead of taking shooting opportunities began to frustrate the 10,000 strong crowd who braved the atrocious conditions.

Nikita Rukavytsya had the best and final chance for the home side, as he finally took advantage of some neat play to blast a shot that cannoned off the woodwork and went out for a goal kick.

The Wanderers next match is against Adelaide United in Adelaide on Saturday the 6th of December.

i definetly think there is stuff going in the background, regular players not playing ( mullens, golec, kabs).  replacement players (not any better) playing in front of established players and being praised. some players looking like they dont care. we dont seem to be a team  playing with passion or for the shirt. agree some players are not as good as they were (cole, haliti and bridge). Also saw a twitter comment about perkatis being a decoration.lol

Just to clear up, (Mullen, Golec, kwabs) have all been pushed down the pecking order with hamil/Cole/Alessi ahead of Mullen, Adeleke/Cole ahead of Golec and Castelen/Ruka/Bridge/Haliti/Fofanah/Sotirio ahead of kwabs at the moment. No doubt these players will play a part in our ACL campaign

One thing that makes me happy though is that I still see people coming despite the losses. Let's face it, not that it's an official rule but we're due for a bad run. We've had possibly the best start up of any club in this country or wherever on global level, what we've done can comfortably be made into a movie. We can't keep going that way though, things will turn sour sooner or later, but we will get back up. We need to stay loyal though and keep supporting the boys, which most of us do anyway. Keep your head up, the shitty days will be over soon and the points will come our way in the end.

The only other franchises who had this pathetic a start to the season had to fold or rebrand. How long before that happens to Wanderers?

Love the blaming the ref - he was equally shite for both teams. Just shows you who the know nothing bandwagoners are. (Hint: most of you)

    I love it.

You're not a football fan if you want WSW to fold, you're just a muppet who has the protection of the internet to assist him.

Luckily it's a small city and I have enough on you that your ability to troll offline will be tested in the near future.

Don’t think there was a single Wanderers fan who  felt like talking to anyone for about 10-20 minutes after last night’s game. Frustration, disappointment. But the pride I still feel when I see MY team walk out on the pitch each time is not measurable, as is the pride I have in Western Sydney itself.

We all live for the next nail biting installment of our drug that is WSW, and out of all of this at the top of the feel like **** pile must be the players who don’t need to read, see or hear WSW fans acting like ESFC fans..you can see which ESFC fans came across..This is the real disappointment..

Some Roar fans are good folk, a small number are useless tonks with personal hygiene problems.

I honestly believe scouseroar has a mental disorder. His obsession with anything WSW related is absurd, to the point where he breaks "bad" news about us faster than most professional journalists. On most forums/social media, he spends more time talking about Wanderers and the RBB than the rest of the league combined. Even the most annoying smurfs don't have this fervent desire to see the ends of us.

I don't think the players didn't try last night. I just think they weren't good enough against a pretty well organised Brisbane team. I think saying the players weren't trying is just some frustration coming out from certain supporters. I got frustrated too. But the reality is we tried and just weren't good enough on the night.

Realistically we're aiming to take out 5th or 6th position in the table and then go on to become the first A-League club to become "Champions" from outside the top two. Given our ever so short history, if there's any team in the competition (world?) that can do that, it's us. It's a psychological thing. We're 4 points behind 6th place with 19 games to go i.e. in terms of objectives, sitting comfortably. In addition we're about to go to the WCC for potentially the experience of a lifetime... playing Real Madrid in a competitive match, something many European teams can only dream of. I think we need to relax, enjoy the moment and look forward to what lies ahead.

Thanks for this post, magicwand! Now, start waving! I'm off to Adelaide tomorrow so I expect all good things over there!

The boys are struggling with confidence now after dominating but not winning games and not being able to break down defensive teams.

They need us more now than ever. If you feel the urge to boo or vent your frustration negatively at a game, maybe it's best to stay home because you're actually part of the problem that's frustrating you.

Let's not get into this slanging match with people like scouseroar. Remember Brisbane supporters had a Mulvey Out sign a few years ago when they were slightly struggling in the league. Now they've sacked their Grand Final winning coach after a few sub par games. Sydney FC supporters threw a beer glass at the head of their coach, walked out on team before half-time during a game and acted like a bunch of spoil brats in front of the TV cameras. This is when they were 6th or 7th and in touch with leading pack. Imagine if they were bottom of the table with no wins after 8 games!

If we can get through this with dignity and not overreact like other supporters, it will show who the better people are. It will pay off in the long run. Remember things can change very easily. You always get to see more about a person when they are losing, rather than when they are winning.

I will agree with the above.

However (and this in no way supports those that boo or leave early) I would say the majority that post here are fanatics that live and breath WSW, I would also say we are probably a minority of the WSW support. Mack will have the stats on how many members / posts and could check this against the number of members / attendees of the actual match.

In every support you will have people who express their views differently and within all support will be a number of **** who will boo and walk out early. Personally I don't have so much issue with those who walk out early, not all will be because of turning their backs at a difficult time. I see people leaving early from around me even when we are winning, some just want to get a head start on the traffic or have kids to get back home and don't want to be in the rush.

There will always be an element within every clubs support that will express itself in a way other people find negative and not appropriate. The key is to ensure that those people don't get to lead a group, like in the Cove.

i agree with most of the above, however i dont see what people see in adeleke?

hes terrible and has cost us 3 games now. hes slow, he was outpaced a number of times last night and in the last few matches. he pushes up too far but does nothing with the ball and doesnt come back in time.we tried to make all our plays up the left flank, most which ended up with the ball being passed back to covic 400+ times, the most weve ever done before. by far our weakest link, where is golec?

i would have even given pollenz whatever figure he wanted to stay.

romeo looks the most promising out of all the new recruits but its like he wears banana peels for shoes, can someone please take him to footlocker to get a proper shoe fit and stop slipping?

saba is fast losing his hype, has some flare of dribbling but apart from that has done very little to create and dictate the game.

baccus showed some real composure and played well.

should have played sotirio for juric, the young kid is the only one keen to have a crack from a distance at the goal, the one thing that we should have done last night. roar have a sh1t keeper, it was wet and slippery, if any match dictated more emphasis on long range shots on goal, it was this one.

As much as I don't like our current run of form, we are at least playing well & doing most things right, except for the part about putting it in the back of the net. Maybe I should've put a cheeky fiver on the roar to dul

I don't go to Pirtek to watch the wanderers win (even though that is a definate plus). I go there to support my team.

How bad was KGJ seriously something needs to be done as the quality of refereeing is not good enough.

Very frustrating performance and it feels like if we sscore the flood gates could open, really need a bit of luck as we're creating opportunities but to scared to shoot *****.

Baccus looked good and was decent despite a few poor turn overs when trying to beat his man to create space.

The season is still long and we can make top six so no need to panic as the comp isn't won in round .

I'm hoping we can lift for adelaide as they will be a true test and a win against them will lift spirits for Morocc.

If someone wants to lleave early for a legitimate reason then fair enough but for someone to say they have had enough and go well don't come back ***** go watch GWS matches and be home by half time to find your wife cheating on you with a carrottop rugby league player who is on bail for sexually assaulting a panda bear.

Also were are the Wanderdogs *****, you tease us with the add in the match day program but don't show up.
