FFA will likely just change the rules like the did for Ca$hill.

That would be a very stupid thing for them to do, and entrench the view that the light blue teams get special treatment

you’re right it’s exactly what they will do

So another season of them somehow playing with 3 marquees ?

I don’t understand how they can have Adrian as well unless he’s being paid under the table.

I don't remember clearly, but wasn't there a post on the forum that Adrian isn't staying?

It’s no secret how they have done it to date. They basically have directed nearly all the cap and marquee allocation to 14 players.

This year Bjuis has gone he’d have been on ok money so I’m guessing some of that will go toward Adrian, and they will get a cheaper CB

There is nothing stopping us from trying to do the same.

Part of our issue last year was we didn’t get value from one marquee and we also had some players under cap on decent coin that weren’t contributing much eg Herd and to a lesser degree roly and jumpei

How you get a third marquee is you combine the salary of three or four ok players say, Herd, Roly, Jumpei and Thwaite and blow it on one player.

I’d add that we already don’t look like doing that as we have already a bunch of ‘ok’ players like Kamau and Fitzgerald

At the end of the day their policy didn't bring the expected results even with super coach at the helm. They would have anticipated winning another GF plus still be in ACL contention.

Trouble in Paradise?

Adrian Mierzejewski: "Another week passed and i am even more dissapointed instead of beeing closer to solve situation. If someone is interested...on 9th of July i am in Sydney ready to tell whole true story. As an adults shouldn't we respect our promises?"

For those in the know about A-League salaries, is he worth $1M? Like he was good for sure but is he worth seven figures

ESFC will be a lot easier to beat if he isn't there.Controlled their midfield and is a great set piece goal scorer. I'm hoping he has a massive dummy spit and quits.....lol

Yes, he is

We should be in there now throwing money round like it’s Brewster’s Millions

put in to context how much we spent on Pio or even Cejudo he was the best player in the league last year by some distance

Pio was $750k a year iirc? Yeah it'd be a bargain buy at 1M

def worth more than the 500k he was on. Wont stay in the a league unless another team has him as marquee and deserves so. Him and leroy saved the a league last season

According to The World Game, tge smurfs are going to $1.3m from an un-named Chinese Super League Club for Adrian and $800k from a Turkish club for Bobo.

They will have 4 Visa spots open with 1 marquee position available if this all happens and we are still just short of 4 months from the season opening.

Interesting, to be fair to the bloke I would be pissed off and want nothing to do with the club if I was treated the same way.

He must have been so so angry to have had a marquee spot open at the club but choose to head overseas. What a coup for the club to get 1.2m for the debacle.

Shame that he left, he absolutely loved Australia with his family and wanted to sign a long term contract. Had nothing to do with Arnold this mess, all to do with the CEO & his team.

Their squad is abysmal currently, and Popovic is taking the types of players they'd normally sign. They are going to have a torrid time filling their squad out. Sure, they might be able to throw some cash at a couple marquees, that's assuming the owners aren't going to take the transfer fees and invest them into something other than the player squad.

I’m sure they’ll invest it in a marquee, the club has been making millions of losses, year on year so I’d doubt the owner would start pocketing the money now.

The biggest issue I see right now, is they won’t be able to sign marquee players under the cap but promise them marquee status in the following year. Nobody will fall for that again.

The whole strategy of building a strong XI but no squad depth. You wonder now whether this will continue under Corica or whether he will take a different approach.

Didn't Arnie say earlier this year that he couldn't sleep due to all the phone calls he was getting from overseas players wanting to come and play for Sydney? Surely Corica is getting those same calls!! :xnod:

Let's hope their squad stays abysmal so we can defeat them in a world record 31-0 rout in the next Sydney Derby

Riera to score 13 goals - a quadruple hat-trick, plus one!
