No one has commented on the flying fox/fruit bat that fell from the roof into the bay next to the RBB, and was eventually "rescued" by security and police... just as the penalty was taken. Welfare update?

Recovering well from the pepper spray and will be up in front of Parra courts next week on unlawful ground entry charge.

Well that explains the low attendance at the game last night!

Jokes aside the attendance now surely is a massive concern.

last night was a game after we scored 4 goals in the game of the year and it’s a derby of sorts - very low.

our crowds are way off, Adelaide has clearly overtaken us and we are about with melb city.

See if the big clash with mariners brings out a bigger number bit earlier for the famailies too

It was the Mardi Gras, Ed Sheeran, apparently Harry Styles too - like big very rare events. Of course it was going to be a low crowd.

I didn't go out last night because I was already out for most of the day and seeing all of this 'gay love' and 'love is for everyone' whatnot just gives me shades of Valentine's Day so I'd just rather stay home

That said, I have a wedding (not mine) next Saturday so I'm out that week too

"(Not mine)" Based on your most recent posts, I'm not sure you needed to throw in that clarification 😂😂

Transport is an issue for me as not driving at the min, i have a few health issues with my leg. It took me 2 hours to get home from the derby due to the way they control public transport around the stadium roads  that's from Parra just back up around Carlo.

I can get home from a game in the city easier.

**** that.

Different VAR rules appear to apply in different games.

A few weeks ago Wilko sticks the studs into Borello's hip to stop an attack without getting booked, Retre having his opponent sent off with play acting....

One can only wonder if Noone would have been sent off in the other derby, or if the Hoff had been awarded a penalty.

It's the lack of consistency isn't it that's the killer.

Both decisions last night were correct by the rules..which while the Penalty seemed soft, it was a foul so a pen.

As for sending off it was about as clear as they get especially as it was entirely from the back

We scored from the penalty.

Amalfitamo is turning out to be quite a versatile player. I am sure Rudan appreciates that as he likes to tinker with the line up depending on who we are playing. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts with Bozanic as attacking mid next game for instance, even given the great performance of Ninko last night. Mariners is going to be a physical game and Bozanic is probably more suited for a fight.

I thought our penalty was BS. What was the MacArthur defender meant to do? Not once did he take his eye off the ball. That’s a lose lose situation which is not fair to the defending team.

He was supposed to get the ball he kicked the player that's a foul

From what I've seen of match highlights from around the world there is a penalty given for the same thing every week or more. It's a foul in the box. The action doesn't need to be deliberate to be a foul.

Unlucky, yes.  Incorrect, no.

Exactly he didn't get the ball he kicked the man it's irrelevant if he meant it or not

The exact same thing happened against us last year (or was it the year before) when Kuol got his boot in front of Baccus when Baccus was trying clear the ball from the box. Kuol came deceptively quickly from the side outside of Baccus's field of view. The commentary said that it was unfortunate, but was a definite penalty.

That foul for the pen is a good example that football is a kinetic sport not based around discrete actions like say, baseball (ie, ball thrown, ball/strike/hit, catch/run, first base, second base, reset and go again etc) or even NFL with incomplete pass/fumble/down by contact and separate plays. The game doesn't stop just because the keeper made a save or that you're in front of the ball with opponents not close.

Intent doesn't matter for just about every law in the book, and it doesn't matter if you didn't see what your action was going to do, it still happened.

Their player was lazy and expected that he had time to let the ball drop and clear it 'safely' off his left, over to his right where it would have been a corner with no risk of an own goal. Instead of say toe poking it over the bar quickly, or rushing with his right foot, he shuffled 5 steps then tried to kick. It was a bad situation to be in but he was in the right place to do the job and get it away.

Our player was quicker in thought and action. Calem was 5 yards deeper when it came off the keeper but he spotted the chance and went for it and got there in 4.5 steps while covering the distance. The Macarthur defender barely had his boot off the ground when Calem got in front of him despite a significant distance advantage. That play was a microcosm of the game, with our players faster, with more desire to make an impact, and Macarthur slow & lacking intensity.

Told my missus a bat dropped from the rafters, she didn't believe me, any source to validate my claim, she thinks i drank too much and imagined it, like Ray Milland in the Lost Weekend!

What Mack said. Plus  you have to give it to the Hoff for not giving up on it. He was at least 5 steps away from the defender and just accelerated when the save happened pure persistence rewarded.

While typical of us fans seeing at soft pen what we really should be saying is the mentality of the two players involved. Susnar is so lax not caring and not aware that he is punished for not covering his blind side. The Hoff just went for it to challenge and every kid should look at that and try to replicate that same mentality when they go out and play on the weekends.

What a pathetic call that was last year - tried to forget those incidents - now you've given me PTSD recalling a Petratos shot that was harder to miss than score but he did and then that last off-side call.  Pathetic. Bring on more soft penalties to redeem the years of crap decisions going against us.

Apparently Macarthur tweet out a "play of the match" showcasing their best play in each of their games. Shows how good we were (and how bad they were) that it was their one shot on target, and this is it.

Here's evidence but I'm not hopeful this link will work. Not my video.
