mack Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Andrew Redmayne threw away a win for the Wanderers as he gave away a foul then compounded his error by allowing the tame free kick under his arms to give Newcastle a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time. The Wanderers looked liked they were cruising as far into the game as the 80 minute, only to succumb to a late fightback with the game ending 2 all. The home side, playing their first ever match at the Homebush Showground, took an early lead as Artiz Borda scored the opener in the 23rd minute. After returning from suspension, the central defender rose against Nick Cowburn on the edge of the 6 yard box. Newcastle committed the cardinal sin of not having a man on both posts, and Borda's glancing header skidded off the base of the post and over the line for 1-0. A silly handball from Ben Kantarovski gave club captain Dimas Delgado the opportunity from the penalty spot, and he sent Jack Duncan the wrong way to double the Wanderers lead going into the break. Nigel Boogaard, better known for getting sent off instead scored a milestone, as he scored the 20,000th goal in the history of Australian league football. He rose at the back stick, with Redmayne coming out but getting nowhere near the ball, along with the rest of his defence, leaving a gaping open goal that Boogaard couldn't miss from a few yards out. Redmayne cost his side the win in the 88th minute. Giving away the foul 25 yards out from goal after the keeper charged out of goal only to collect substitute Morten Nordstrand as he tried to round the keeper. Andrew Hoole fired at goal, his chest height shot going around the poorly positioned wall, Redmayne was slow to react, and when he did react he reacted poorly, with awful technique that allowed what should have been a routine block to creep under his hands to see the game finish 2-2. This match can be added to the ever growing list of games that should have ended with a clean sheet but due to defensive frailty ended without one, and this time it also ended with 2 less points for the Wanderers than it should have. Jerrad Tyson must be given a chance to cement a full time starting position, as Redmayne was the difference for the Jets in this game, adding poor handling technique to his already dubious habit of poor judgement when deciding to charge out of his goal. Steven Lustica was anonymous, and despite a stellar pre-season has done little to show why he would be ahead of Nico Fernandez, Shannon Cole or even one of our younger players. Western Sydney play next when they take on the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday the 29th of October. Click here to view the article Smoggy 1
wanderersfanatic Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Redmayne's fault. We can't even defend set pieces. No service for our strikers. xxBrandonxx 1
Smoggy Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Cant defend Redmayne tonight. Brain fart charge out and beaten by a **** effort at his near post, daft lad. For 10 or 15 min before that we totally lost the plot though and invited the Jets back in to it. Edinburgh, Prydzopolis and FootballRelic 3
nmh94 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Well we pissed away 2 points there ... FootballRelic and DamnedUnited 2
tardotz Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 You could see it coming....second half we fell flat. MartinTyler and Valter43 2
WestSyd Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 A lot of times those Redmayne charges out of his area end up working out for him. But as we've seen on various occasions he ends up looking silly if it doesn't. Especially considering he struggles with free kicks just outside the box.
Redwog Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Redmayne was bad in the foul and the free kick but the team fell off with 15 to go. Overtrained this week?
Victory Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 For those that were there, how was the RBB/atmosphere in the smaller venue? Thought it was great on TV. Hopefully a win next week. Prydzopolis, Alexander and 102megan 3

Uskana Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Redmayne has been coughing goals for how long. Do you guys want Redmayne yo put up his hand and say stop picking me? It is the coaches fault. Stop scrapping the barrel every season for rubbish and sign a quality keeper. Hamil's fault he is a ribbish back? Not clear enough after FFA Cup and derby? Not for the man who put him there at the end and in those couple of minutes proved again. Tigers and wswtragic 2
Valter43 Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Just saw a replay of the first goal for the jets since I missed it during poznan. Wtf! Lack of communication, redmayne just slams into the back of a defender. **** me dead ****
Legionista Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Hestitant to solely blame Redmayne for the draw. We took our foot off the pedal when we should of been bossing proceedings in the second half Erebus, Alexander, 102megan and 7 others 10

You can't compromise in such a critical position. Uskana and WestSyd 2

He was a straight swap & did nothing wrong.

It's a matter of you can't give what you haven't got. We pissed off Reddy on the basis of one error so where do we go from here in respect of the goalkeeping problem - will just have to put up with it and as has been stated blame you know who?
Cynth Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Well Redmayne may have had a brain snap in the second half but I also think Bulut was very disappointing tonight. Carns, 102megan, stavup and 2 others 5
