mack
One of the best goals in the history of the Wanderers from Mitch Nichols has put the club on top of the A-League after an outstanding 2-1 win over the Brisbane Roar in Parramatta tonight. A match that lived up to the billing where the winner would go top of the league, the Wanderers came out and dominated the first half. Mark Bridge opened the scoring in the 29th minute after taking advantage of some wonderful lead up play from Andreu. The Spanish midfielder wriggled clear of several defenders before launching an attack through Romeo Castelen. Castelen jinked and weaved through the Roar defence, his cutback for Vidosic took a deflection that put the ball into the path of Bridge who couldn't miss from a few meters out. Jamie Maclaren equalised luckily for the Roar 5 minutes later. Alberto was shoved by his opponent, being put off balance and not being able to collect the ball cleanly, Broich put a ball through to a potentially offside Maclaren, and despite Topor-Stanley getting back in cover, his shot took a fluke deflection off Topor-Stanley's toe that put the ball over Andrew Redmayne. With the Wanderers standing solid in defence while the Roar took advantage of some biased officiating to maintain loads of pressure on the home side, Mitch Nichols produced a moment of magic to break the deadlock. Nichols took a short pass from Jamieson, rode one challenge to create room, then launched a dipping, curling strike from well outside the edge of the box that gave Jamie Young no chance at all. The win put the Wanderers clear on top of the A-League, with a chance to go even further clear if they can beat Melbourne Victory in what should be a blockbuster match next week in Parramatta. Popular Post Victory
**** I hope the FFA come to the party this week and negotiate in good faith so the boycotts end. Best two teams in the league deserve a full house and two heaving active areas. HillsWanderer, mack, victor and 27 others 30 Link to comment

tuco
great win in a game where we didn't play as well as previous weeks. i was disappointed that the crowd was so high (almost 9800). i would assume there were at least 7000 choosing to boycott...... on second thought, it was probably more as they would have 'gallop counted' the crowd and included the 1000 cops and hatamoto staff. in any case, bring on 7 in a row. A few references to overseas football and how those issues compare to here. Ended with a plea for fans to return next week and focus on building a dialogue with FFA. Yeah, 1st time I've listen to ABC for a home game. The Interview they had with one of the old bosses of the A-League was very good. Said that using Hatamoto was a mistake, and that if this isn't resolved soon that the fans should boycott the Finals as that would hurt the FFA the most. (As they get the revenue, not the clubs). Victory
As I said in the other thread, the stakes are massive now with the threat of no RBB/other fans at one of the biggest games of the next year next weekend. Wanderers could break their non-derby A-League regular season crowd record next week if boycotts stop. Smoggy, lloydy136, Alexander and 6 others 9 Link to comment

BrightSpark
Btw, well done to the RBB for their successful boycott. Hopefully the message to the FFA is starting to sink in. We are all hoping this gets resolved soon and you guys and girls will be back in the Northern Terrace soon, as you are sorely missed. And well done to the non-active fans who went along and supported the team. From what I could hear on the ABC, you were supporting the RBB as well as the team. And finally well done to the team, tonight. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY, WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!! SBW, MartinTyler, TheDugong and 3 others 6 Link to comment

hawks2767
What a night, the Collector was great - I had to stop my brother from hitting on hot deaf girls 3 times because they would be silent in bed (at least that's what the alcohol told me). That goal from Mitch OMFG it just curled and curled. GunnerWanderer, 102megan, EmMac and 5 others 8 Link to comment

Without the FFA debacle, this match would be the start of our full capacity sell-outs, given our form, winning streak, and top table position. And not to mention, coming into holiday period. Keeping our wins going, we will see more fans at next match, Top table clash against MV. jocosmic and Prydzopolis 2 Link to comment
