Police, Security & Supporter Discussion Part 2

The issue, Policing at the Derby game, has been positioned as 'Policing the Active RBB section'.
It isn't this.
It's a much bigger issue ... ongoing bad policing, wasting tax-payer (&spectator) at a sporting venue.

Bad policing is bad policing.

I've been going to games since the 70s.
Seen a lot of high-tension games in eras where police were necessary.
High presence, antagonistic policing is not necessary at WSW games.
And thankfully it never has been.

At the last Derby, we had a magical festival of culture and football ruined, by police.
It was a wonderful party, snapped away in a moment.
Police should make us all feel safer.

We just need to call the events of the last Derby for what they are.

Totally unacceptable policing.

It’s a dick swinging contest for our Police force. Shame they don’t give as many ****s about the mental health of their staff.

IMO It’s the result of generations of governments trading in fear mongering, reinforcing the notion that we “need” a strong police force to solve our societal issues. That’s obviously wrong, but it doesn’t stop populist politicians from using it for votes from the (generally apathetic) constituents.

What visiting WSW fans would they be?

Seriously this is the first derby that I really cant be bothered with

Yeah wont the RBB (and associated hangers-on) be boycotting?

I'd assume so, no sign of cops reaching any sort of agreement. Apparently the lack of wrist bands was the issue

The wristbands just make admin easier for the cops.

You get a black armband and they’re just going to stare at you intimidatingly all game. Get a red armband and they’ve already pre-filled your banning notice and will be grabbing you at some point.

Our fans get given 2 silver wristbands that have a little chain joining them

Without dropping his screen name, is that one of the RBTV blokes? The new season of episodes is gonna be awkward now....

Pretty disappointing considering all the crap that the RBB just went through trying to get their bans over turned.

I believe so... I'm going to reserve any comments because anything I have to say on the matter will almost certainly break one of Macks rules.

Suffice to say, last week when I said everyone was welcome here, I didn't mean everyone...

So is that what the article meant by 'prominent'?

Disgusting conduct from NSW Police last night. Random kids getting dragged out for standing on seats.  Absolutely appalling.

Not excusing the cops, but stop f'n standing on seats. It everyone stands on the ground it's the same thing. Annoys me to no end everyone in the safe standing at home thinks they need to stand on the rails. Defeats the entire purpose ffs

Agree. Thing is these young guys had to stand on them because people in front of them were.

The cove weren’t even allowed a pre game pub apparently

The cove were not allowed a pre game pub or a march. Some disagreeemnt about “concession items” for stadium entry.

I get it but maybe just the police getting the Marshalls to ask the kids to step down is a better idea.
