PS  Since when is there any sort of guarantee that merely because the ref is standing 10 metres away and staring at an incident that the incident will be treated the right way??

Very happy with the win. A good effort by all of the team. 

Only one security guard annoyed WSW fans telling people to stop leaning on the fence. All other staff were fine.

Since most people in the away bay were not RBB members, we took breaks between chants to cope with the humidity. This prompted a "Who Are Ya" chant from the Den ... when they were already 2-0 down 

My first win from 8 interstate trips (3rd Roar trip).

Herd needs to smarten up and just play football, his aggression is a bit to much and needs spoken to, but happy to see him start and hopefully play every week.

Oreo showed his class and should not of been doubted. Bridge was good and Santa as well.

The var is a joke and needs to be fixed, seriously how could they not look at it with Santa bleeding with a break in play.

Still wasn't a quality performance especially the first half,but a couple of goals might turn things around and bring in some much need confidence.

Hopefully Gombau can bring in a creative winger or true 10 to give more service to Oreo and make a real run for the finals.

I think that is why he was willing to say "sayonara" toJumpei. Didn't have the quality finishing required.

Couple of things re. the VAR

The VAR ref decides to check incidents independently 

The Santa clash was not checked by VAR. The VAR ref didn't deem it a significant error 

Macaronne can be reviewed by the panel and given a retrospective ban as dealing with it on the field means getting a yellow or red and the ref did neither

The Roar had too many shots on goal for my liking, but they are always a handful, and difficult to play in these humid Brisbane nights.

Maccarone - WTF?

Gombau and the experienced players seem to have found common ground. Four above 30 players starting at the back, three up front, with three "youngsters" running midfield - it worked well. Clisby seemed the weak link, especially first half. 

Good to see Gameiro back on the pitch. How many ACLs has he had? Two? Three? Good to see him losing in a game against the wsw. 

JayZKo's favourite player scored another goal, had an assist, and worked his arse off for 95 mins. I hope he stays injury free and keeps producing this kind of football.

So nice to lose the possession stats in first half and yet go into the sheds 2-0 up.....Looking forward to statues of Santa and Bridge and The Snake at Parra Mk. 2. The Passionate Trio!! Kudos to the travelling grubs on tour in the away bay. Sure not the greatest display with defensive issues and giving the ball away too easily but great to see the fight and emotion back.

Just watched the replay again and everyone agrees that Maccarone should have had a straight red for the elbow on Santa. On the 85th min he got a yellow for a foul on Clisby.i would say even that was borderline straight red. No intention to play the ball and had a lunge at Clisby.

He was clearly best on field. We couldn’t complain if drew or lost that game we were not that great

Loved the strikers up front. Looked way threating when santa, reira and scott held up the ball to pass it off.

 

I prefer scott over jumpei on the wings any day. Showed heart and bullied the defense instead falling over like a numpty

Btw on the broadcast, couldn't even hear them. They are a shadow of their former selves, which wasn't that great to begin with.

Gameiro has done his ACL(s) 3 times. Twice on one knee and once on the other.

Great to see a (relatively) solid performance, another win (in a row!) and cleansheet. Hoping we can build some momentum and continue to accumulate points. I did not expect Santa to last the full game, and wonder if he and some of the others can back it up on Wednesday. If not, very curious which youngsters will get their chance.

I was pleased to see the team play with passion and cohesion, maybe the "motivational" talk from the RBB has had an impact?

ATM we’re decent against lesser opponents.

Any top side would have punished us given the amount of space and time on the ball.

The constant turnovers also are a huge worry. 

Adelaide are going to be very difficult.

Scott really took me by surprise. Has always been largely uninspiring and off the pace up front, but looked much more comfortable on the wing!

be interested to see how he goes in a few more matches when needed.

 

 

 

I think someone mentioned it above.

but the commentry was aluding to the fact that the VAR did not check it as they sid not deem in a clear and big enough error from the ref.

so this is now how they are operating ever since our mariners clash.

Now i understand the concept and this is the right idea, but it just shows there has to be a few rules for different scenarios in place.

 

ie:

- only check if it is deemed to be a clear and big ref error during normal play.

- During the stopping of play due to a head or potential foul play injury off the ball, Use the farking time to check what happened with VAR!

On Herd - yep i thought he might cost us the lead for a while there. Was relieved when he was subbed. He's a good player but you need to aim to win the ball at least some of the time, rather taking the player out. 

Re a creative winger. Not his usual position but I thought Lachie Scott was outstanding when he came on, playing down the right. I really would have liked to have seen more of him in that role as opposed to an out and out striker. (Idk positioning that well so i may have got this wrong)

I read that the VAR ref doesn't pull up on any decisions made if the on-field referee is his mate

I think that article had a stat about how many times decisions were changed if it was a "newer" A-League referee (like Elder or Alms, whatever the names are) rather than the old firm like Evans, KGJ, Beath, etc.
