  • Record Loss For Record Crowd

    mack

    0-4.

That's the report. The Wanderers don't deserve anything more than that. Abysmal performance. Worst ever loss for the club, coming in a Derby were 60,000+ people showed up.

    Not good enough at all.

Im really questioning why we bought Borda.

Maybe the plan was to offload NTS and maybe Cornflakes was an opportunistic buy but fact is we have 5 CBs in the squad.

We need to **** Borda off immediately and probably Pintares and get a visa LB and another visa CM.

Are they on 2 yr deals? Borda and Bruno,

    Pretty sure

    Borda 2

    Bruno 1

Watched the game via stream and the quality of the stream matched our performance...

Everyone has covered the point jumpei and Martinez showed promises and it's a bit early to write off the others

To me no one was a leader out there and that's what we missed most. I'm know everyone has more or less given up on topor but I'll at least have hope he comes in next week and gets the teams **** together

Borda and Bruno need time to adjust I think they occasion overwhelmed them but it wasn't a great start

Esfc look to have a well balanced side will be a force this season

We had enough chances... Bulut should have scored at least 2 of the 3 he had and Mitch should have dinked the keeper

Bulut looked capable but he still at times gets lost and his position is ****. Bring in viduka to mentor the beast!

I don't think it will happen but Martinez needs to start next week simple put him as the 10 and King Mitch with Dimas as the cm's

Why not put Bulut out on left or Santa and play them both they both have passion we need more of it

Hope mack wakes up tomorrow and doesn't shut down the forum never seen him call ever player **** before haha

Let's face it, after the city game nobody could have had high expectations. After the first few minutes yesterday it was clear which team was going to win. We were outplayed and did not deserve anything better. I know it's the first game but unfortunately it doesn't look like things will get any better quickly. This is going to be a hard long season but win or lose...

Everything has already been said but seriously........the flares are a disgrace. They still continue - not really the way to show 'support' for your team.

I still think this is going to be a long year.......it will get better but I have no confidence whatsoever.

Tbh if we don't lose three points Gallop is a ******* spineless ****. I'm sure the timing of the "disloyalty" was purely coincidental....

That second half was utter ******* shite.

Well said Jacko - needs to happen

    Had an interesting derby day:

    - had to change trains at Lidcombe because the train I was in broke down

    - me, Btron and LuisEnrique lined up to get membership tickets for 45 minutes. I spoke to 4 different ticket booths before they figured it out

    - helped Lawrie Mckinna find some dude walking about with a box of vip tickets. I had to, because after 15 minutes at the ticket booth they told him they still were unable to find out where his vip tickets were

    - busting to use the loo I raced to the Lawn Bar, only to discover they didn't have an accessible bathroom

    - after firmly advising a security guard that he needs to find me an accessible bathroom, we did a lap around the inside of Spotless in the hope that one bathroom would be unlocked. 1 ladies bathroom was unlocked, it was good enough

    - upon entering the stadium I quickly learnt that my allocated seat was not only not wheelchair accessible, but also not anywhere near a wheelchair section :nono: :nono: .Super effort that by the club

    - spoke to 5 or 6 seperate staff about my predicament. Not one of them had any idea of what to do. In fairness, one security guy radioed head security - who I got sick of waiting for after 20 odd minutes. Having no faith in any more staff members, I ended up going down a tonne of gates until I found accessible seating

    - after the match, I was fortunate to get on a train full of ESFC supporters. Who sang the one chant they knew, before moving on to singing every 1980's song they could think of for the remainder of the trip

On a good note, thank goodness they got rid of the ridiculous face off!

Should post this in the feedback section - hopefully the club can see

well I wish I went to the gold star luncheon on Friday, at least I would've been wined and dined before I got ****ed watching performance

Maybe start Nico next to Dimas so we can control the ball coming out from the back. Andreu vision and forward play was sorely missed. We lost a lot of ball in the midfield and rarely put Jumpei or Nichols into space.

Neville was the only defender who wasn't his crust.

the lack of urgency in defensive situations is what worries me the most. (I said this after the city game as well)

the second goal is a good example of what I am talking about - hamill misreads the cross then instead of busting himself to close down to cover for the initial error he lopes across giving whichever smurf it was time to cross a bouncing ball and then there are 3 defenders vs one smurf in the box as the ball is cut back and none of them even make a move towards the obvious run into the middle of the 6 yard box and its in the net.

After years of seeing guys like jamo, NTS & polenz desperately throw themselves in to last ditch tackles and sprint to cover mistakes it is very disheartening to see guys either unaware or lackadaisical.

edit - just saw popa's presser and he seems in denial to me about that performance saying it was just a matter of who took their chances. not what I saw. we had a couple of half chances on the break just before half time after hardly having control of the ball in the attacking third for the first 30 min. Aside from that the possession and chances really only came after they sat back at 2-0.

They bossed the game. The whole experience was pretty disheartening from start to finish. From waiting 50 minutes in a line to pick up a membership pass that should have been sent out 2 months ago when they took money for it. To watching some fat tw@t of a seco laughing while tipping out kids water bottles at the gate. To being charged 11 bucks for a water and a coke. To the atmosphere vacuum that is ANZ stadium. To the absolute garbage served up by a group of players who don't give a toss. To the experience that Alexander detailed previously. It was a community club but I am not so sure at this point. Very disheartening.

The most disappointing thing to me was that as a Black member i expect to be surrounded by WSW fans not a stack of smurfs there was maybe half a dozen WSW fans surrounded by easties. What a joke, What the frig is the club doing to its members.

and what every one else said about the performance and ANZ

has a decent kebab before the game though.

I thought the march was incredibly flat too tbh. I noticed a lot of people were keen to get to the front of the march to take pictures and videos but not as many for jumping up and down and singing. Too many people just want to watch the atmosphere instead of creating it.

I can sort of see where Popa is coming from with taking chances. Bulut had two chances in first half, he should have buried one.

That said second half, was not about missing chances, it was about us switching off for 15 mins after half time. Second goal was terrible defence.

In regard to Hammil, I couldn't work out if he was under instruction to stay so central, he consistently was nowhere near his man, giving them the run of the wing. If the plan was to give them he wing and deal with crosses that come in it didn't work.

Nobs behind me blamed Redmayne for all 4 goals. Not sure he could do much about any of them. However his distribution was shocking and I lost count of how many times he slowed the game only to roll the ball to a player who was in no position to receive it.

Also I hate our short corners, Cornthwaite was biggest guy on the pitch, get the thing into the box, instead we mess about with it and end up with them hitting us on the break

Marching at Olympic Park was never gonna be the same as a Parramatta. We took a while to find it. The sound just dissipated across the open space once it kicked off. Can't blame people for wanting to watch the march, most casuals have never seen anything like it.

Surprise , surprise , surprise ........NOT

Total and utter humiliation , it's a wonder the gold star above the crest  didn't fall of in shame. Could say a lot but it's all been said before in the preseason.

Bigger worry is that the coach is in denial.

2.5 out of 10 performance. But certain aspects can be turned around quickly, tactics and style and motivation. What can't be fixed quickly  is the tightarse , unambitious recruitment.

Yeah, Popas post match conments seem delusional if he thinks it was just about chances. Next derby he may as well just drop his pants and bend over for Arnie.

I was sat behind some back packing cockney chunts. They decided to support ESFC mainly because i think they were surrounded by WSW and wanted to be dickheads. They couldnt believe how **** we were and spent 90 ******* minutes ripping us apart. To be fair i agreed with some of what they were saying lol one of them heard me talking to my son and asked where i was from, told them " aaahhhhh you ******* smoggy chunt ha ha ha" ******* cockney chunts lol one good push could have sent them over the edge of the level.

Missed the familiarity of parra and seeing the same old people in the same old places. My son missed the bouncy things and the grass bank at the southern end where he would play with other kids.

I know we are gonna get a nice new stadium out of this and we will have earned it!

I don't think you're wrong Riva.  I wanted the team to prove you wrong but I can't see where significant improvement will come from with the team.

Don't think we have a plan B and we've not adequately replaced 6 key losses.

Thats just Hamill though isnt. We retain dhit like Hamill whilst ripping apart the core of the team, **** me lol

Thing is as well i have had a pretty **** few months and spent a good few weeks just looking forward to the derby as a bright point. The that **** is servex up.

Often at parra just being there was enough regardless of the game or result...

But last night leaves me totally flat. Hope to **** spotless works out ok!

    Link to comment

What's worrying is we don't have a plan. That's what I saw last night. Players were playing as individuals, not as a team with clear instructions on what their roles were in a team unit. In season one and two we had a plan and stuck to it. In season three we didn't play to a plan and look what happened. In our fourth season we developed a new plan and new style of play, and we stuck to this system. This season I think Popa thought things would just roll over smoothly with the new recruits. But they haven't filled the gaps in what we did last season. Mitch Nichols must sure miss Bridgey, Andreu and Castelen.

Just this one game reminds me a lot of our third season and the way players looked lost, confused and beaten to every ball. The only saving grace is that I believe this team has more potential than that third season team. Complacency by the coaching staff and not thinking ahead has already shown up after just one game. Meanwhile Arnie has turned things around from last season.

    Oh yeah and ANZ sux.

Thing about press conferences is that they are for the journos and the casual observers, not the players and the hardcore fans.

What Popa said into the licorice ice cream and in the dressing sheds last night would no doubt have been two very different things. It would have been very poor man management to publicly slam players in a press conference after round one.

Pressers are the game after the game. I wouldn't read too much into them, frankly. Saving face, stroking egos, boosting the fragile, picking up and dusting off the good ones that had a bad day and need to be reminded not to take it so hard. An honest assessment of the previous 90 minutes has got nothing to do with it in my experience.
