Another striker? Maybe he is being considered as the attacking midfielder. Its concerning that he has developed a reputation of being toxic at his recent a league clubs. But he is quality and is not going to make us any worse than we are now. Will there be a player swap with Brisbane?

yer fell out with Western United and something happened at Roar where he didn't even show up last 2 matches, its only till the end of the season but scoring goals isn't our achilles heel, it's stopping them at the other end.

Seriously , presser totally sums up the running of the club, proof reading before releasing a statement is a must. McDonald comes to the club with a wealth of experience having spent the majority of his career overseas for clubs like Celtic, Middlesbrough, Millwall, and Northwell.

Welcome Scott .

That'll fix it, sign a striker when we badly need a top or competent centre back.

We have competent centre backs, but we are not always playing them...

Goes with “I tried to come to this great club about four years ago while I was at Motherwell, but unfortunately that move brokedown so I am happy that I’ve finally been able to make the move."

When I first opened the link it said "that move down", so they've fixed it to say "brokedown" but that's not a word.

I’d call that a ‘Hail Mary’ or rather a ‘Hail Scotty.’

I fear it will not end well, especially if the club runs out of spray tan.

Granted we need to plug holes at the back but you can only sign players when they are available, not always when you need them.

I’d rather have McDonald on the park than Yeboah or Ibini, so I’ll give him a chance.

Perfect fit don't you think.

There's nothing to complain about here. He became available, and the club moved quickly. No quarantine required, should be fit enough, knows the league. With the right attitude he will be an asset.

It's not that we have anyone up front who keeps banging in the goals. Ibini, Mueller, Yeboah, Kamau, Cox, even Duke - every single one of them has been hit an miss. We haven't had a poacher since Santa in S6. McDonald has the potential to be that man.

If we didn’t sign him and he bangs in a few gaols at Melbourne city we would all be on here complaining

My thoughts as well

And hopefully a foreign centre back comes in (which should have happened when we signed Mutch )

Can't help but think thus might point to Cox heading back to UK to be with his wife and daughter?

Agree, but all the best to him. He put in a shift, seemed pretty level headed and must have been gutted to get a refusal on the visa.

While Scott Mcdonald may well prove to be an important acquisition at this stage of the Comp......when compared ie( goals for and against)  with Sydney fc with the same no of games played we have scored 5 more goals however, we have conceded 13 more, therein lies the problem and adding another striker baffles me somewhat.

Plus he is an on field leader, something we don't already have.

Ex Boro player McDonald signed eh. Didnt have a brilliant time at the Boro, hope he does better for us.

A solid experienced centre back would have been very welcome, if not more so.
