Traore is a wingback. Knows his role. Has 4 sets of lungs and will run up and all day. Can also put in a decent cross. Has skill and tenacity.

Good signing.

That's all very well, but can he tackle and defend?

Okay I'll buy into it, let's see how this pans out, welcome on board Adama

so was ziggy...

there's enough Ziggy mistakes in the last five or six games to blame him solely on us not making finals. bloke can't track a man or compete in set pieces. he's the football equivalent of Robinson's change room motivation speech - great for highlights reels but still a fraud.

Wow that’s harsh I would say fraud, with Ziggy you get what it says in the tin

decent all effort defender

however effort should be a given for any footballer especially an import, that he’s a hero of our defence because he puts in effort says a lot about the other experienced CBs

He’s a Scottish Tony Hibbert

As for mistakes, for one of the them why in the name of **** was he marking Hamed at corners, putting our shortest CB on the nix biggest threat in the air was stupid and I blame CR for that one and McGowan oh and Peter Dutton too

I’m thinking Tarore is a good one, in struggling to think of better local options a for WB if we insist (which clearly CR does) on our formation

a big problem for us was relying on kids for both WBs

Adama was a gun player with Gold Coast Unitedand his first Victory stint. His second Victory stint is a bit debatable.

I just hope he has clean his act up as the fans will not accept players being suspended 5 games which he received for touching Chris Beath (even though everyone would love to smack one on his jaw).

Wilmering and Aqulina will probably see themselves getting less game time.

theres enough mistakes from every player in that back line...the amount of times ziggy saved us with last second blocks prob out weighs that.

Our back line was too young. McGowan, Ziegler, Gordon vs the youngsters Aquilina, Wilmering, Natta, Tass, Tate, Magush. It cost us.

With DG in the stands and eventually transferred out we had no senior players for the FB positions. Traore is going to address that for LB.

Throw in a young goalkeeper who isn’t strong at corners

I think it is a good appointment rates with Ziggy for passion now let’s get James Donachie for centre back

Still contracted with Jets for 2 more seasons... so need some mutual termination energy

Leftback was a major problem in terms of productive attacking play. Between Aquilina (who played 12 of his games at LB) & Wilmering (who played 12 games at LB) they only managed 1 goal, 3 shots on target, a 26% crossing accuracy, 4 assists and about 65% passing accuracy in the opposition half. None of our three main fullbacks had better than 76% passing accuracy overall (Traore had 83% last season, and 73% in opposition half).

Hopefully playing in a team that wasn't a candidate for one of the worst of all time will improve Traore's defensive stats.

So a 31 year old 5' 7" defender unwanted by the club who won the wooden spoon is the type of player we need in a defence that needs height and aggression.

I'm sure he's a lovely guy but is he the type of player who will help put silverware in the dusty , cobwebbed , cockroach dropping filled trophy cabinet.

After all these years of tight arsed recruitment show some ambition , splash some cash and recruit class players who will pull the club out of also ran mediocrity.

He had his chance. First season he couldn't shoot or pass properly and after an average 2nd season he went off to Saudi Arabia & the UAE where he has continued to be bad.

For all their faults, the club have been pretty good with opening the chequebook, particularly for Robbo. I think he’d be hard pressed to give an example of the club not providing the opportunity to sign a particular player.

I think the issue is how the money is being spent rather than the amount. Winning the aleague isn’t about splashing cash, it’s about using it wisely.

It's also (especially) this season about getting the best out of what you have, by being organised and hard to beat. Look at the Mariners and Roar 3rd and 4th neither team signed anybody of great note this year (Bozanic was probably the Mariners big signing). Yet they finished comfortably above us.

I can take us finishing behind ESFC and City this year, but seriously look at the Mariners squad and ours

That Mariners squad seriously I don't think anyone can underestimate how big a signing Bozanic was. They went from nothing to all of a sudden having this work horse who had the quality to control the pace of the game, the amount of times he received the ball in the defensive half and just slowed the game down for his team and the speed it up once they could attack was beyond me. Everyone in that team responded to that and played beyond themselves.

In my personal opinion I think he should have been in the Socceroos team and they would have beaten Macarthur if he wasn't out. If he was in our team I tell you right now we would be in the finals, I think he solves a lot of problems that we currently have especially that ability to diffuse when the team is under pressure.

I agree he was ace but if you look at their overall squad it really shouldn’t have finished third, that they did is Stajic getting them playing really well as a team

If you gave stajic our squad it would have made the finals

Why haven't we managed over the years to sign players like Leckie , Diamanti , McLaren , Fornaroli and such when they have become available. Aren't all clubs on the same cap ?

This year it was quantity over quality. When we do sign a quality player like Ikonomides for example they don't hang around.

Perhaps the Academy has been overinvested in based on the results produced and some of those funds diverted to the recruitment of players who can drag the club up from its present state. I prefer trophies to having an Academy with nine soccer fields , why would you need nine soccer fields ?

Too much consideration on the academy and not enough on the football team, also not enough respect to the thousands who paid money as club members.

Nikola Mileusnic nope , very fast on his feet but is he any better that someone like Sotirio ?  to me he lacked finishing skills when he was at Adelaide and that does not appear to have improved overseas. He appears to have been at best a late run on sub and with 1 goal from 20 games would not be a choice.

Another one for the regular round trip to Europe leave with great expectations and back in 12 months to 2 years without much game time, there is a long list hey.
