Popular Post btron3000
Ah stop whinging about the roof! The fact there are those gaps and it's made from Bunnings tarp means it's not going to feel like a modern soulless bowl. It's gonna be a bit more open and connect us to the park and surrounds, so we can have the best damn stadium in the country as well as still feeling like we're part of the Parra precinct. We are gonna light it up, and in front of a frothing packed house in the opening game, Andres Iniesta, after leading the Wanderers to an unprecedented treble in his debut season, will provide the assist for Zlatan Ibrahimovic's hat-trick, a goal which puts the icing on the cake of a 5-0, nah **** it, 7-0 win over the hapless smurfs, in Graham Arnold's return game after he is sacked from the Socceroos for swallowing huge cardboard penises. Woah that little fantasy got away from me a bit at the end there... EmMac, Edinburgh, Smoggy and 14 others 6 11 Link to comment

WSWJACK
two years ago used to sit behind the goal in the family section with my two boys, sunshine or sitting there in rain soaked poncho things. As long as we are covered and the four enclosed sides make a bowl for more noise, come on we are better off aren't we? my only concern of this stadium build, are there enough rows in bottom tier? just seems a wee cramped there, half RBB under and the other half on second tier, will that split the timing and unity of their performance somewhat? Popular Post hawks2767
Have a read and a laugh, I hate Eels fans and this is why. Quote Reading recently that the NRL wants to stage a Round 1 double-header at the new ‘Parramatta Stadium’ to kick off season 2019, I admit I got a little bit excited. Going to ANZ never feels like a home game, and while I will miss the old stadium, the idea of watching games back at Parramatta’s home by Round 1 next year is music to my ears. So I decided to take a walk down O’Connell St to check out the progress on the new home of the Eels – and I must say, it’s coming along nicely. The anticipation builds as you walk by the tall concrete stands and it becomes overwhelming as you realise it will be ready in time for Round 1 next year. Then you reach the signage plastered at the construction entrance by the NSW State Government – seems they have a different view to the NRL of who the stadium is being built for. ‘Western Sydney Stadium’ is clearly displayed as the name of the project, not Parramatta Stadium. Search online and most material states the name as Western Sydney Stadium – even the Wanderers’ website has them basically laying claim to the stadium. The new venue is supposed to be primarily the home of the Parramatta Eels, and while the Western Sydney Wanderers will play there, if a bigger, better option becomes available, the A-League club will pack up and go there. The Wanderers have little affinity with Parramatta and while they may call it home for now, they are not Parramatta’s team. Most of their support comes from a wide range of suburbs stretching across all of western Sydney, while Eels supporters are largely locals – born and raised in the area – and they, along with their team, will be there until the next knock-down-rebuild 30 years from now. It may seem an insignificant issue, but to most Parramatta rugby league supporters, the Wanders have been guests at their stadium – now it seems it’s become the reverse. A home-ground advantage is based on one key value: it is home, not just to the team but the supporters. Even though the old stadium has carried the name Pirtek Stadium for the past few years, it was still Parramatta Stadium to us all. Seems that may have been taken away. Hughesy
This is the same mob that oversaw the serving of a 'fish burger' with two fish fingers and a slither of lettuce, along with a 'hamburger' that was basically a flattened meatball drowned in bbq sauce and charged over $12 for the privilege. Sounds awesome... Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment

Hughesy
Chicken or the egg type debate really. Fact is, neither team were getting a new stadium on their own. It's hilarious that both sides still whinge about this. SomeGuy1977, Prydzopolis, Smoggy and 1 other 1 3 Link to comment

It is only their total ineptitude on and off the pitch that has killed them for so long. If the good times ever did roll back around for them (ha yeah right) then they could average low 20's. Even in their run to the finals last season they were **** for long periods and the fans were still not on board. If they get their **** together the Eels could comfortably fill the new stadium regularly. Prydzopolis, sonar and Wanderboy 3 Link to comment
Davo
You could say the same for us though. We compete for trophies and have a stadium with some atmosphere and our average attendance could be huge. Wanderboy and sonar 2 Link to comment

As with virtually all sporting grounds of note in this country they are centrally owned and operated and teams, like us, are mere tenants. The MLS have seen the light and most clubs there have boutique football stadiums now. In this country the operators only care about maximizing revenue. Come one, come ye all will be the catchcry. mack
WSW or SFC couldn't probably afford to buy the land required for a stadium without going to the outskirts. The New York version of Melbourne City are having the same trouble. Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
Hughesy
Even if we had the money, as if the plans would pass for government approval. We live in a country with the one of the most monopolised stadium setups in the world. They’d undermine their whole policy by allowing single use stadiums to pop up. That’s why I’m so sceptical of all these expansion bids claiming to have their own stadium backing/plans. Won’t happen without major legislation change. Prydzopolis 1 Link to comment
