JP will be a vastly different man in the technical area on Sunday.

You won't see him sitting down with his legs crossed, calmly minding his own business.

If previous form is any guide, he'll constantly be on his feet roaring instructions to players, such as second ball, second ball, ala Ufuk Talay

The Frankfurt soccer god retires! Alex Meier ends his career. "That's it, I stop," Meier reveals "Bild" and "Sportbild". Meier left the SBU in summer 2018 and then hired at FC St. Pauli. Last September he ventured an adventure in Australia and played with ex-eagles Nicolai Müller and Pirmin Schwegler for the Sydney Wandereres. But during his time in Australia, Meier realized: I actually don't feel like it anymore. He canceled his contract in mid-January and now officially says “goodbye” to professional football.

Meier goes into his football retirement existence with a crying and a laughing eye: “Sad because I can no longer do what I have done and loved for 19 years. Relieved because I can finally do what I feel like doing. Stay away longer in the evenings, watch football as a normal fan. “ Above all, he will miss the cabin and the community. “For me, a team is like a family. I spent most of my life with the boys and always enjoyed it. Coming to the cabin in the morning, hearing the best stories from the previous day and laughing - that is priceless. The cabin was always the room where I felt most comfortable. ”   

Alex Meier: "With Eintracht in the Euro League, that was something very special"

Meier was a professional footballer for 19 years, started his career at JSG Rosengarten and landed at Eintracht in 2004 through Hamburger SV. Number 14 stayed on the Main for 14 years, became top scorer in the first and second league and won the DFB Cup. For Eintracht, he scored 137 times in 379 games. The worst experience was the relegation in 2011, he said "Bild" and "Sportbild". His best memory was the Europa League trip to Azerbaijan. "I scored two goals there, but that was rather unimportant. The whole trip was just cool. With harmony in the Euro League, that was something very special. ” But Meier does not want to completely renounce the round leather. "It would be an honor for me to be able to play with Charly"  , Meier flirts with the Eintracht traditional self.

Well if he's going to "deck" some opposition players then he's going to have to get up.

Seems a lot more emphasis on fitness  and ball movement, there was a lot more noise than I have heard in the past from the players and they all appeared to be very happy as a group.

The same goes for the coaches, a lot more involvement a lot more loud driving of players than I have seen in the past with Haliti and JP involved in the each session    

The training game seem to be split with first team and reserves , Cox was on the reserve team and played up on the line , but did go looking for the ball, Cox is a stocky fella who seems to struggle to fit into the training shirts and shorts his leg and chest muscles are big.  He looks fit.

All and All they seemed a happy group.

Spent an extra long weekend down at Batemans Bay , it is very quiet,  pubs are empty hotels empty and restaurants struggling , not a lot of smiling going on down there.

If Baccus is injured, then not ideal. Hopefully we see Tass in midfield & not Ziegler.

Ive seen a bit of JP in action as assistant, he spends most of his time riding the players & barking at every little mistake they’d make. This sort of motivation works on the old school, but the current young crop coming through? There is only so long the stick approach works for so long

Don't give too much away as you don’t know who reads this forum but was there any evidence that there was a change in approach, structure or anything (apart from JP shouting from the sidelines)?

I’d advise Fox to turn down the sideline mics :lol:

We already had the Wanderdog and we all know how that turned out so I am pretty relaxed about us not getting the CumDog.

Understandable if he heads off overseas. 

In no way shape or form am i about to say that Tass is crap. But let's not let some transfer links exaggerate his potential.

He has had several chances and has underwhelmed, and has pretty much found himself where he ought to be at this stage and that's in the squad getting a sniff here and there on the bench. 

With the Olyroos he was very much guilty of his similar failings here, which are giving the ball away cheaply, miss-placing passes and lacking pace.

We did better when Tass was in a back 3.

It is nuts, I think this combined with the idea to play 3 CB then once season starts moving to a back 4. The kid that may have got some game time, then relegated in the pecking order.

As a kid, he will make mistakes but when we are already making multiple mistakes each week, you wonder whether we should have just focused on him being a starter from beginning of the season.

I think we went from 3 to 4 at back as we only had one wing back capable of playing in 3 - 5 - 2 

which given that we intended play 3-5-2 begs the question why we didn’t look for a RWB. I assume Kamau was the plan and he got injured but even then Kamau as your first and only choice RWB ffs

I wonder if it’s because we had 4 keepers on the book at the start on the year

It is such a specialist position, overseas there are only a few teams that have players capable of excelling in that position. It’s not surprising that in a country with very few teams playing a back 3 that we don’t have the players for it.
